Can y'all put up that list of which moderators have which styles? I know the people who have been her longer have specific ideas of how each mod tends to operate, but I haven't been here as long and I'm not as familiar with it. I know most things are passed on to the whole moderation team, but I always feel all awkward and unsure as to who I should approach about what. A little guide like "so-and-so tends to have such-and-such moderation style and is most comfortable dealing with that type of situation" would make it a bit easier. (Either coming from the mods themselves, or members who have just observed those things..) Someone made mention of a few different styles awhile ago, but I don't remember the thread, and it wasn't particularly inclusive.

Not that many people know I'm a mod, since I'm not listed as an "active" mod, but I've noticed that the people who come to me with issues are those who frequent the same forums that I do. People that seem to be comfortable with me through my general posting as a member.

Well, I do wonder if some mods deliberately bait members they disapprove of until they've got enough ammunition to ban them.

^^um, that wasn't one of them... I don't think I've seen any of the mods deliberately bait anybody. Seen some people seeming to deliberately bait the mods, though.
Of course, "deliberate" is a subjective word. If somebody thinks that somebody else is dishonest, simply addressing what they say in that way will come off as "deliberate." Almost as much as the "deliberate" baiting that results when you treat a dishonest person as though they were honest, and they get all pissed at you for assuming that what they said was true when it wasn't, so that's all sorta a catch-22.
But that had nothing to do with the point of this post..

Awhile ago there was a post about different mods particular talents and styles, I remember something about how sinsboldly is good at rallying the community together in it's own defense.. and there were a few others mentioned, but I don't remember what they were. :?

I'm the "quiet, but deadly" one.

Oops.

Oh, what a wonderful idea. I wish I had thought of that.[/sarcasm]

But seriously ascan, in this case, you may be entitled to your opinion, but your assumption that we are all entitled to it is irritating.

I'm basically Avon. Snide, sardonic, but meticulous and ruthlessly honest.

Oddly enough, there is no rule specifically against "baiting".

If there were one, I suggest that both ascan and 88BK would be breaking it, in the above.
