I was just thinking that there is a forum for talking about opnions on movies/shows and one for opnions on videogames and one for the music/storyies you wrote, and I was just thinking that there should be one for opnions on books.
It would be a place to talk about your opnion on books and ask for suggestions on what you should read next. And not just novels, but things like comic books and manga. There could also be a poll for what you think the next book-turned-movie should be.

The current forums include:

Games and Video Games

Television, Film, and Video

Art, Writing, and Music

Which should cover what you're interested in.

Post a book you're reading

Admittedly just one thread, but it covers roughly what you wanted. Contributors not only post the title, but do usually give their opinions on the books.

It's in "Art, Writing, and Music", which is really, I suppose, for members to display their own efforts.

Maybe it should be in "Television, Film, and Video", with that retitled as "Books, Television, Film, and Video"?

Some of these distinctions get so fiddly! :)

Thanks for the link! I was, oddly enough, just looking for somewhere to discuss Iris Murdoch.

But it is already 53 pages long, and it would be very difficult for people to find a book/author they're interested in, and keep a discussion going on it for more than a couple of posts. Non-fiction books can be discussed in science and tech, philosophy and politics, etc, but novels etc could maybe do with more space than one thread, to get really stuck in to details about a writer, book, etc.

Yes, that is how I've always understood it too; that it's for artistic creativity rather than appreciation, reviews, criticism, etc, ( mainly because of the description of the board ... creativity etc ), though a lot of people do post about the music they love, rather than compose, so presumably people could do that about authors/books too. But it would be a shame to dilute the already diluted creative aspect of it even more.

That would be a good idea, especially as there are so many links between books and film/TV. :)
And change the "blurb" about it so it reads "books" instead of "fashion" too!! ! That would be great, actually.

PS. People do sometimes post separate threads about books/authors in the Arts, Music and Writing board, including myself, but I do think there is something wrong with them being in what is described as a thread for the creative among us. I wonder why the many music-appreciation threads don't seem odd/out of place, but books do.

As far as I know, you can't get in trouble for simply posting in the section that seems most applicable.. I posted about things I baked in the art section 'cause it seems like art to me, especially when I'm making gingerbread cookies that are cut-out and stuff. Can always put a little disclaimer at the top "I put this here cause it seemed most applicable.." I do that a lot, too..

When sites constantly add new sections, lots of them end up being unused, and the site becomes less interesting because each section is less active.. I've noticed that on some other sites.
