When I first sign on and then click on a forum link, and then every so many threads or forums I visit after, I get an Ad instead of the page that gives me the option to wait 15 seconds or bypass straight to where I intended to go. Sometimes it takes forever to load the page and I have to wait the 15 sec anyways.

Is this something new on WP, or do I have spyware? It's driving me nuts. I know it shouldn't, but things like this drive me nuts.

Thank you. :)

I haven't seen that.. usually even adblocker, you'll still get those, or at least get the countdown bit but just not see the ad.
It would be nice if Alex would mention how many people would have to donate how much for at least the really bad advertising to stop. As it is, nobody even knows if he'd decrease the ads if he were getting more donations or if they'd continue despite the donations. Some sites make ad-free viewing a feature of premium membership..

That concerns me that you haven't seen these, but I have. I've seen these on other sites so I didn't think much of it other than it was ticking me off.

I'm doing a scan as we speak----EDIT: Nothing found. :?

Like you mentioned, there are other sites have ad free with premium service, but I wonder how easy it would be to get donations? I know IRL people are always motivated to give to a cause, but when the time comes to actually pay up, they're not so motivated anymore. LOL!

Thank you for responding. :)

Well if you're see ads that AdBlocker Plus is blocking, then that's why I haven't seen them.. it's just that usually the timed things aren't blocked.

There are some people who donate to WP.. but the minimum donation is $25 monthly, and only in US currency, so apparently nobody outside the US can donate without going through a great deal of trouble with bank drafts and currency exchanges and such.. Between those two things, not many people end up donating.

You can donate smaller and/or one-off amounts to WP if you have a Pay Pal a/c and use the Pay Pal "Send Money" function; the merchant address to send the money to is alex@wrongplanet.net .

That is how I did it this last time. :)

You aren't the only one. It's not your computer. See this thread: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt114032.html

(Next time, look at the other threads to see if the issue has already been posted about.)

Oops. Thanks. :) I didn't post this message in this forum, someone moved it here from Random Discussion. I really wasn't aware of this forum until today. I should have done a search on the topic before I posted it.
