I'm not complaining or questioning anything, I just noticed I've seen quite a few posts by banned members lately. What's the reason behind this? (I'm asking just for the sake of knowing, I like to know stuff even if it's pointless).

EDIT: Reading over some of the other topics (which didn't answer the question, just gave me more vague curiosity-inducing details), it seems like Alex is kind of annoyed with the topic of bans. Sorry if this annoys you!

EDIT again: Apparently moderation was suspended for a period of time? I picked the wrong time for my Pokémon obsession to kick into high gear (I only checked the Games and Video Games board, and except for last night the trolls stayed away from there). I feel oblivious now...

EDIT a third time: Sorry if this is violating the "discussion of banned members" rule; the way I interpreted that is "No asking why a specific member was banned", not a moratorium on the discussion of bans altogether.

Somebody invited previously banned people to come back during the time that the moderators didn't have moderation tools.

Apparently a couple long standing members were either banned or simply had their accounts (along with all their posts) deleted. A bunch of previously banned members and others have been complaining about increasingly heavy-handed moderation on WP on other forums (you can't easily talk about the issue here as addressing specific banned members runs the risk of getting yourself banned). Then a whole bunch of previously banned members came here and made new accounts to complain while the moderation was disable by Alex.

When and why did this happen?

A certain somebody was fiddling with peoples accounts when she shouldn't have been, and deleted someone's account - every post, thread and PM she'd ever sent to anyone, when she had no right nor reason to beyond personal grudge - let alone the abuse of power bit for a second, the forum software apparently isn't very graceful about calling missing entries.

Deleting an account will remove all that person's posts, threads, and PMs.

Well, an impartial observer to this would look at your posting history, or general lack thereof, over the last few years and wonder why you've suddenly developed such an interest in what happens here. I certainly don't trust many mods on this site, but I'd trust even less some of the characters I've seen lurking and posting of late on this forum in connection with this "abuse". There's usually two sides to a story like this, so if someone would like to PM me the details from the other perspective, feel free.

An impartial observer would be correct in doing so; I would be the first to think it suspicious had someone done the same at another forum - with this in mind, I offer some proof as to my identity.

As for the two sides aspect - that certain somebody confessed to doing it. If you want proof of that, it can be provided.

Doing it is one thing; the motive for doing it another. As you've carried out a character assassination with the accused given no right of reply, I think it is incumbent on you to provide evidence. This is particularly relevant as some of those you appear to associate with in this plot make the mods here look like saints. Anyway, you best PM it otherwise it may be construed as disruptive.

The accused has every right of reply - last I looked, they were not banned.

Check your inbox.

Yesterday they had "banned" under their name. Today they don't. Whatever the situation I doubt they're in a position to reply openly. I'll look at the PM shortly.

I just sent him a PM too. I wonder what you gave him? Screen shots I took?

I had assumed that was the intention

Though I have to ask - do you mind if I crop out the rest, and just leave the relevant lines in?
