What about a LGBT section ???

Its difficult to find LGBT related threads, so I thought this would be a good a idea

Most LGBTQ threads are in Adult Issues; some threads have been permitted to remain in adolescent and in-depth, but if discussion becomes graphic those threads can be moved or removed at any time. Any requests for new forums should be taken to Alex as that is his balliwick.

I don't see why gay or lesbian people can't post in the other forums like everyone else

I'm straight and I voted yes. I used to be bi but decided I'm straight because I read it's common for women to find other women cute and be attracted to them. But because I have no desire to have sex with another women, I can't be bi then. I am revolted by what they do during sex. I was told I have to have sex with other women to be bi. If I have the desires to do it, then I'm bi curious.

I don't believe the OP is suggesting that can't.

Having a section for LGBT issues would mean people interested in discussions on those issues can find posts from others on those issues.

Not that anyone put me in charge of what the different terms mean, but, personally, I don't think being monogamous or not sexually active means one's not sexually active. I think it's about whether one finds it appealing, not whether one does it.

But apart from the physical aspect, which can go in 'adult issues' like the rest, isn't love and the whole mess surrounding it the same regardless of your sexual orientation? There may be a slightly smaller sea of fish to choose from, and hence may be more difficult to find a partner, but does that warrant an entire forum of its own? Many AS people have difficulty finding partners, so would it not be better to pool our resources?

I'm honestly just asking. I'm not gay, so I don't know if there are far more issues surrounding it than I am aware of.

against my better judgment i voted in favor, because i believe gayfolk of whatever stripe should feel free to be wherever they go on the planet. the existing structure of adult-subject segregation concerning sex issues in general works well enough, so why fix something which ain't really broken? but another forum in itself can't harm anything, so why not?

but a caveat here- a segregated gay section should be split into adult and adolescent arenas. maybe arenas isn't such a good choice of word here? i dunno anyways it would be prudent to avoid mixing the two categories. this complication is another reason i was hesitant to vote yes.

I'm not gay either. But I do know that, yes, there are other issues. There's coming to terms with oneself, with one's sexuality as a homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual. There's dealing with society's prejudices and judgments.

A useful poll for if we should have such a section would be asking who would use such a forum. The percentage wouldn't mean much, but the "yes" answers would give some indication that, yes, there is interest.

That's different from this poll where a "yes" means we think it's a good idea, but those voting yes aren't necessarily people who would use it.
