Tell me what you think. I think the purpose of Wrong Planet is to form a community of people who support each other, learn, discuss issues, debate, get opinions, ask questions, and in general "talk" with other people who understand the mindset of Aspies. However, a certain member seems to *not* think this, and has offended me a *lot* by a certain post. (I suspect others feel this way)

Tyrone left WrongPlanet.net months ago, so you shouldn't worry about him.

Yeah, things have gotten kinda rough, but we're going to get back to that idea of community. The site is going to be a lot nicer and better and friendlier.

This is good, but be aware that Aspies are a natural target for those demented types who get their kicks by manipulating others. Our natural sense of fairness, of protecting the underdogs, of supporting the misunderstood...all these can, and are used against us!

There's also the question of misdiagnosis; many who are not Aspies, but who believe what they've been told, can inadvertently corrupt what's meant by being Aspie.

When all's been said and done, if it walks like a troll, talkes like a troll, and lays bad eggs like a troll, and it then claims it "misunderstood", does that mean it's not a troll?

I don't see why Tyrone would act like that toward those of us with AS, beings that he said he was diagnosed with it.

That was what I thought.... I suppose the question is where to draw the line between putting forward a distinctive point of view or strong opinion (of which there are a number among regular posters :P ) and being divisive and inflammatory, including such implications as 'if you don't agree, you are stupid/evil/not an aspie'. (BTW this is not aimed at you, Gwynfryn - your views are well known and understood by most of us - and why the heck would you want EVERYONE to agree with you?? ;))

Posts which seem to be designed to encourage people to get personal, or to undermine the confidence of other members, must be viewed as trolling, and arguably there is no place for that sort of behaviour on a community oriented site. I for one come here as I like it here, it is largely a friendly group accepting of its members, and I would very much like it to stay this way.

Having difficulty understanding that other people can have different opinions or views is a symptom of mindblindness. I have such problems all the time.

I agree wholeheartedly. This is the first group where I feel accepted.

I realise this - it was a joke I thought Gwynfryn might enjoy based on his 'profile of aspie characteristics'.

sorry if that wasn't clear everyone

Ah, a personal joke! Judging by number of "Magic, we're just teasing you!" that I have heard over the years, I am not the best expert in them. :D (I am actually confused completely, but the joke was not directed at me, so it is not my business, I guess.)

Oops, I don't remember I posted a "profile of Aspie characteristics" (maybe I was on the pop; could you point me towards it?) but I can't imagine a world more boring than one where everyone agrees!! ! My only issue is on how one disagrees.

It's no secret that a contretemps has arisen at another site (of which I'm quickly losing interest...hey, that means you'll be getting more of me here you lucky people! :P OK, I'm on the pop again; it's been a stressful week) revolving around how I, and, unfortunately, very few others, have identified a seemingly deliberate attempt to stifle any progressive debate, with a view to generating our own definitions of what it is to be Aspie (as opposed to letting non-Aspie clinicians impose their mis-assumptions on us) by swamping any such thread in "official" text book pronouncements, from people who have a suspicious lack of discrimination about the misconceptions which real Aspies note in such tomes. No, I'm not going to give examples, as real Aspies will know of what I speak, so why help the trolls?

By even highlighting such suspicious activities I've earned(?) the wrath of a particular moderator (and been accused of being just as much of a troll, by a member on this site) and am now held in bad odour it seems. Moreso, I've been accused of "orchestrating a campaign" against the suspect, despite the fact my first action was to alert the admin of my suspicions, and only when they did nothing (as far as I can remember; I may have got the chronology wrong here, but not the intent) did I alert my personal friends. It's doubly ironic, as those I commune with privately, have proved unusually resistant to accepting my opinion without question; in fact, all of them on this issue have said they don't agree! Could this be why I like and trust them?

that was my point - I'm glad you got it.... that 'real aspies' think for themselves (which is why we are hated/feared, lol). The 'profile' I meant figuratively, implied from the opinions expressed in your posts.

Personally I enjoy your strongly expressed opinions - exhorting people to think is not trolling - as opposed to insulting and belittling people which appeared to be the case with the proclamations of a (former?) member who will remain nameless but I think everyone knows who I mean.

Enjoy your pop ;)

dunc (who has been know to enjoy a small glass of cider now and then  )

Wrong Planet should be a peaceful haven where we can have civil dissucussions about different things and Issues. I feel that nobody has the right to attack another person, just because they disagree with them. I've noticed that a few Members have been leaving, because of another Member. We must survive as a Community.

I almost left this Community because somebody made a recent attack on me. I have comfort in knowing that this person is banned, now. I feel that if somebody feels the need to belittle another Member, they should keep it to themself. As the old saying goes, "If you can't find anything nice to say, than don't say anything at all." We must keep Wrong Plannet from becomming a War Zone.

This is my 100th post. I wanted to put it someplace special and could think of no better place than here.

I wish to thank those of you that created Wrong Planet and to let you know that I feel very good about those of you (the members) who remain here posting, watching, caring, offering constructive posts, debating intelligently and giving me something to smile and sometimes laugh about daily.

Keep up the wonderful work and if you ever have doubts about the work you do here, know that you have touched my life and my heart and inspire me with your actions.

Lots of Love - Patti
