Could you please appoint a few more moderators? There's been a huge amount of drama on the forum lately - personal attacks, insults, trolling and spamming - it just gets very unpleasant and even hurtful for some.

Quatermass has been very helpful and efficient when alerted, but how could he possibly cope with everything that happens on a forum with almost 40,000 members?! 8O

Most of us just want to have some peace here - could you help?

The moderators have been doing a great job, but with so many members getting on line now, having seen over 1000 at one time, it must be a daunting task for them, Both DW a Mom since retired and Quartermass have been awesome moderators and they could use some help

There are three other mods. tinky has been a hard worker lately as far as moderation is concerned, and TOGGI3 and WardenWolf have done some excellent work, but unfortunately, it is not enough. I estimate that we need about three more moderators to ease things up.

I would help but I'm soo busy with college that I wouldn't be available to moderate most of the time. That and I'm a bit emotional so I probably wouldn't be a very biased moderator.

Sooo...put a "help wanted" sign up maybe? Hold some interviews! :D

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. I think all the members who try very hard to abide by the rules of the site truly appreciate the job of the moderators. I know they are volunteers and they work very hard, but the workload is overwhelming, and there seem to be members who take advantage of that.

Perhaps Wrong Planet might consider member-assisted moderation, based on a system of member badges (like those used by the Huffington Post - link below):

Or perhaps get the help of a professional moderation firm like emoderators?

I'd be willing to moderate, and would accept the task if asked to, but on the other hand i can't trust myself to remain objective 100% of the time. As you've seen by the drama, especially on Love & Dating (which is basically the only forum I frequent now), even I have trouble remaining impartial when it comes to resolving heated disputes...

I gave a list of moderator nominations to Alex and I've been told that he is in the processing of contacting them to see who is willing to accept the job. Hopefully, some of them will, but it can be a lot to ask of someone. Finding people that we believe have the right touch AND that are willing to do the job isn't always an easy task.

Ifs its at all possible to nominate someone based on personality and people skills it would, someone who doesn't attract negativity.
I know some members would want to nominate themselves which would be a disaster if granted, such things are not given out for the asking.

i agree, difficult as it is, more moderators would help. or maybe some kind of system where users could flag posts they think are inappropriate, bringing them (or a user) straight to a moderator's attention.

A report button would be nice to have.

I'd have a crack at moderating but I wouldn't nominate myself. The issues I've been having here over the last several months would exclude me from being considered most definitely :P

IMO Alex needs a bit of help when it comes to picking suitable candidates as I don't think he's here as much as he can be to see how members behave and to analyse the personality of potential mods. Maybe we should get members to nominate people, but then again I worry that people will only nominate the popular members here. Maybe trial periods would be nice too, say 8 weeks. I once suggested to Alex that the mods should be rotated every 6 months but he wasn't receptive :P

If I were picked as a mod I would turn it down because I am not up for it. Not on an active forum like this.

I think we need at least ten mods. That might be enough.

I've asked for one in the past but I got told members were abusing it by reporting posts to mods that weren't attacks because they didn't like their opinion. But that never made sense because you can still report a post to a mod that didn't even break the rules because you didn't like the person's feedback.

But on other forums I have developed a habit of PMing mods than using the report function because of here. On AFF I have to remember to use the report function, not the PM system. Of course I don't report posts very often.

I don't know about a report button- on most sites I'd say yeah, but WP? That thing would be worn out in a day :P At least with the current method you have to be upset/insulted/angry enough to bother to actually find a moderator and PM them!

More moderators though, yeah. Or bring back the old ones that are still floating around (if they want the job); Makurososhi and Sinsboldly (can't remember what Sins was like, but Mak was strict as hell; I was furious once when I got a ticking off for using a few swearwords, but it was fair). Haven't seen him in a few months though.

I agree, we could use some more moderators. Some threads lately have degenerated into uncontrolled poop slinging matches. Not to mention the recent misogyny wave.
