i would guess you have little time for member problems, but i'll try anyway.

before you continue here, please read over.......'question for moderators' , my previous post in this forum.

my question for moderators included asking if it is ok to justify, promote, describe personal actions, etc. concerning animal abuse/cruelty. that happens frequently. i usually respond harshly because the mods have not. tally man objected to my naming names and calling them out. in his response to me, he did not address animal cruelty posts. my question to you is it wp thought that anything concerning animals is opinion and not subject to the same rules as attacking another member?

if you substitute animal abuse with child abuse in the above paragraph, that is my second question to you. when a member makes fun of the cruelty/abuse/torture that i was subjected to as a child, and the mods do not respond, it's really hard to not let that member know what i think of him. tally man did not respond to my (question to mods) section on child abuse.

the person i said was a bully and i thought was very cruel has a question in ppr called....should bullies be executed. many have responded with derision. he seems to like causing anger. no mod has stepped in. is this also opinion and does not reach the level of personal attack?

whatever problems a. s. have caused me, never holding back and writing what i think seems to be a significant one. i understand i may make people not be too fond of me when i call out members over animal cruelty and being bullies to the more vulnerable members.

maybe dw a mom has very subtly let me know that humans like me do not belong on wp. poor white trash, brought up in a housing project, no one caring about them, living on the edge.......maybe i don't belong with all the loved, gentle, middle/upper class, members of your web site. i'm glad it's not her decision..

i'm really interested in what you think. hope you have time to respond.

ask a moderator to intervene? i believe tally man has let me know he is only concerned about one member attacking another. alas, my impasse.

Alex is a man who truly cares, but he is also a very busy man who truly cares.

danandlouie wrote:

Of course not.

danandlouie wrote:

There is no reason to name names since everyone can see who posted, and "calling them out" is actually more likely to provoke them on than to silence them.

danandlouie wrote:

Those are two completely different issues. If I sit here and say I cannot stand this world's filthy, stinking rats and that they are all worthless pieces of trash and should be shot on sight, some "animal rights" nut might complain ...

... and can you see what I have just done? The things I have said about rats might offend someone, but so what?! Personally, I would not give a rat's patootie about that. However, my calling that offended individual a "nut" definitely *is* (or in a real situation actually would be) a violation of WP's no-personal-attacks rules.

danandlouie wrote:

We each and all occasionally face that kind of challenge, yet the "no-personal-attacks rules" still stand.

danandlouie wrote:

Again: We each and all occasionally face that kind of challenge, yet the "no-personal-attacks rules" still stand.

danandlouie wrote:

I highly doubt she has done any such thing.

danandlouie wrote:

I can assure you TallyMan is concerned about far more than that, yet all personal attacks must be stopped *before* anyone at all would even possibly have time for dealing with whatever the attack was merely about.

That thread has nothing to do with you, but is instead in response to correspondence with hyperlexian and is an attempt at showing the absurdity of silencing people and is not a serious proposal by any means. Apart from your personal attacks of me in one of my threads, I have paid very little attention to you. However, now that you are attempting to manipulate the moderators against me, you have certainly got my attention.

That is a bogus accusation, 'keet. The OP is asking honest questions while trying to understand some things.

I don't think he is provided the bit about me which I know to be false, however I could be wrong. My accusation isn't bogus, it is what I perceive to be the case until proven otherwise.

It most certainly is, and even if you actually do believe the moderators are sufficiently ignorant to be manipulated against you!

Good grief, so many assumptions of my words to interpret them according to whatever you wish to think. Fine, be that way. All of you.

Are you referring to a specific thread or is this just a hypothetical question?

I can only go on what you have said:

Do you really believe that is even possible?

That what is even possible? To attempt to manipulate others or to succeed?

The one where danandlouie personally attacked me is this one: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp3105481.html#3105481

The one which danandlouie thinks is about him, incorrectly, is this one: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt140370.html

I'm not sure what all his talk about animal abuse and child abuse is about, probably completely unrelated to me, but for the segment of his post that concerns me I can't say I'm too thrilled.

Neither, and I believe you well know TallyMan and/or whoever else cannot be manipulated.

I heard it is possible to manipulate the mods but I am not sure how that works. I heard one of the methods is telling them a user is harassing you in PM just so that user get banned but they can still check the logs can they or ask for the copies of the PM? So I don't see the point and it's dishonest and deceitful anyway. Plus you can make fake PMs and say that user sent you them and if the mods are foolish enough to not check the logs or ask for screen shots, you can succeed in that.

I heard another way is pretending you are butthurt so you go running to the mods and say you are getting offended with what this person is saying in their posts and keep reporting them pretending you are offended by it. But I don't see how that works either, if your posts aren't breaking the rules, how can the mods ban you? Maybe the user can try and convince the mods how you are breaking them with your posts?

Another method is making posts to a user so they attack you and you report them to the mods and when they check out the thread, they see your posts are nothing but innocent and the user who attacked you is the bad guy. They won't see that you posted just to provoke the user just so they attack you. I have no idea how that works.

You think it is not possible for one person to attempt to perform an unlikely action? Fine argument over, I'm tired of attempting to converse.

That most certainly was not the intended meaning or interpretation. My apologies if something I wrote came across that way. I can assure you I do not think that way.

I believe I was trying to suggest, in response to a post where you were explaining why you wanted to call others out for their perceived acts of injustice (which moderators have interpreted as attacks originated by you), that you did not have to be the one to go to battle against every potential offense here WP; that we have rules intended to prevent the need for it, and a process for dealing with offenders. The suggestion is meant to be that you try to work within the system, instead of against it. I have every confidence that you can do so, and that you belong here. Please accept that the advice that gets offered to you is well intentioned, with the goal of making sure you understand the rules of the road, so to speak, for this one unique place on the internet. You agreed to those rules when you joined this site.

I've had a few people completely misinterpreting my intentions when I post lately ... I presume there is something I need to work on there. Maybe I shouldn't post when I'm stressed out by real life, like I've been lately, eh?

FYI, the rules specifically prohibit attacks against members, not attacks against animals that are not members. That, however, could be covered by the rules prohibiting the posting of offensive content. Since this is a concern of yours, I recommend you study the rules, see what might fit, and when you see a posting that you believe violates the TOS, point it out to a moderator. Even if you don't see any action in public, some action will usually be taken.
