While browsing when not logged in. I've just noticed that non-members can post replies and new topics. For how long has this been allowed? It certainly was not allowed in the two years I was lurking here before I decided to register.

Did you try it? Did you post something when not logged in?

Or did you just see a "post reply" and "New Topic" buttons, and make an assumption?

Yes, the "Post Reply" and "New Topic" buttons are there when not logged in. It's been like that on every board I've ever been on that uses any version of the software used here. And if you click one of those buttons, you are prompted for a username and password. That is, you have to log in to do it.

I even just testing it on this board. It would not let me post without logging in. Only members can post here. Although, a non-member can post by registering and becoming a member.

Yes, I did click on the post reply button, though I didn't post anything. Now that you mention it, seems like you can only do it in the Autism Politics, Activism and Media Representation forum. All the other boards still don't let you post anything unless you are logged in as a member.

My mistake. I just tried posting in "Autism, Activism and Media Representation" section while not logged in and it gave me an error. What I'm wondering now is, why does it take you the screen where you can write a message rather than the screen asking you to log in like all the other forums? The only difference is that when you do try to post a message while not logged in, it gives you an error message.
