Hi,

I thought it might be helpful if there were a category under "Age/Gender related discussions" for Gender Variant Individuals.

I was trying to think of a title for all kinds of androgynous, gender-queer, trans-people of every type.

For instance, because there is some cross-gender identification mentioned in Tony Atwood's book, perhaps normal aspies/asd people might be able to express themselves too.

~

BTW, I noticed that you have no GLBT forums at all. Was this by design?

OK...sure why not.
Perhaps we could get a subforum for this and also one for Autistic people who also have Dwarvism. Won't get too many who are, it would be a very PC and inclusive thing to do.

I agree that it's a good idea as questions and discussions about gender identity and stereotypes are not uncommon on WP. It would be helpful to have them all in one place so that people can more easily join contribute to an existing thread or start another one if some particular issue hasn't already been raised.

I further think maybe we could cater a board for Autistic Eskimos.

Well, at least the positive response was from a "developer."
I would still like to see a gender-variant category, or at least a GLBT one, please.

Why are you so dismissive of the OP's suggestion?

I think it would be good to have a category which includes GLBT, but is wider in its scope to encourage posts about wider gender identity issues. My son is only 8, and he has never felt constrained by traditional gender roles, which has made for some interesting discussions. :) His father, unfortunately, doesn't want to hear about it and would rather make him conform to what little boys are "meant" to be like.

Dismissive? No I think it is a great idea to divide the 1 in 150 minority classification down further and further. I am sure that ant subject that the OP could raise would not be able to be dealt with and with the community in an existing subforum.
I think embracing this is a step forward and as i say I think further classifications need addressing. Like the Autistic little people in the online community, the Autistic Eskimos and I think perhaps a subforum for Autistic Horse-riding Enthusiasts and for Autistic bootscooters.
I think that we should enbrace these things and not to would be a concern I mean was it by design that Alex simply miss these groups out? Essential to have forums necessarily divide their community thus.

I bet they have a rather large section on gender variance in online high functioning Autistic members in online forum section. You should avail yourself of this mountain of reference information and really raise the bar of this discussion. Help Brenda on her quest to bring hidden importance and a righteous deliverance of the necessity for such a subforum.
She should not be forced to endure the humility of simply starting a topic thread in any section she needs to exclude herself from the rank and masses and drive the minority amoung the minority to a specific subforum.
I would be very greatful for your efforts here Marcia because after serious reflection I noticed that there is not a subforum for Autistic vegetarians and whilst not a vegetarian myself I think that vegetarians ought not have to associate so freely with their carnivore brothers. I mean segregation is always the best response to any difference. I believe that you setting the way in Brenda's plight here will help other similar boards be set up and this will help make this forum look less busy and crowded.
I can see it. One day we will log on here and see A sub forum for Gays, Vegetarians, Dwarves, Eskimos, Horse Enthusiasts, Fisherman, Autism Speaks Sympathisers, Blue eyed Autistics, Banjo Players....will be a great day for Wrongplanet...I say bring it on.
