Now If your getting "it", or you are a Woman, you will think me mad, but as a sexually starved single male who is now too old to even hope to ever hold a girls hand again, Iam much happier when Iam not constantly reminded of what I can never have, so, my gripe is, there are 3 adverts on the left that advertise losing weight, the drawing of a fat girl one is fine, the one where you see a young womans lovely smooth belly, just right for kissing, I find very distracting, the third one where you see the most perfect shaped hips is just cruel to constantly remind the likes of me how lovely the world could have been, its hard not to keep staring at it and getting very depressed.

I know the site has to make money, couldnt we leave the soft porn out though, or have adverts that advertise things of a non-sexual nature like Gibson Guitars or something?

Ive just gone on to preview this post, and the constant sex ad has departed, making way for an X factor ad and then a "London MOM" making £77 an hour, even though in London they are called "MUM"
Maybe the horny ads are specifically targeted to my computer to drive me to desperation?

Hard to vote on your poll since it assumes we can see the ads. I'm getting a text ad for coupons, and and below that (and also top and bottom of page) a Shutterfly ad.

Those kinds of ads, sometimes I dislike them, sometimes I don't mind. I haven't seen any on WP that I mind, that I recall. Certainly not a regular thing.

There are actually tracking cookies that can trace your browsing history and display the appropriate ad as a result. For instance, a diet site might put tracking cookies on your computer that tell other sites that can read those cookies that you have been to that site. Then you come to Wrong Planet, which the diet site has an ad deal with, and it figures you have an interest in dieting, so it displays the diet ad out of the ones there. I doubt that this was the case, but it's something that happens a lot. Tracking cookies are considered spyware, so they are usually removed by anti-spyware programs like McAfee and Norton.

I get belly fat ads and london "Mom"s as well, I get sick of looking at the same picture over and over again but whatever.

How are ads for weight loss pornographic?

I would rather see soft porn than the fat ads tbh. The "after" pics in the "before and after" shots are fine though

In Firefox: Preferences > Privacy > Exceptions.

I check my cookies and add tracking sites to that exceptions list at least once a week to prevent this kind of thing. That way, cookies from the domain of the advertiser or tracking company in question won't be stored by my browser anymore.
