How about a more general 'Interests' board?

So we can talk about our interests. Like, sometimes I don't know where to put my wacky things. They fall between the cracks. Sometimes what I'm interested in isn't religion or video games or art. Do I make sense?

Sometimes I feel like a very complicated shape and I have only square, round and triangle holes to try and fit in.

Thank you for appreciating me. :D

I would just put it in Random if you're not sure where else

On zomg we had a few interests forums (games, religion etc and then an "other interests" forum for the rest), but I think ttbh you could just use Random

Random is more for people to say 'what kind of orange squash do you like?' to each other. I've got nothing against random, or orange squash, it's just not really fit for more complex things to flourish. 'other interests' would be fine!

I have noticed that the format of WP is for people that don't cook their own food, don't housekeep for themselves or others and seemingly have all financial matters working like clockwork, or have someone else to do all of that for them. Most of the framework for work or jobs is in the future tense, also.

I would like a place for those of us with AS that do all of those things, too.

That's a brilliant idea!

I don't know if this is the same thing you are talking about Moog. If it's not, can you please tell me what it is because I'm curious?

I believe it would be nice to have a section where people can create threads about Numerology, Astrology, Alternative Spiritualities, Runes, Tarot, Unusual Phenomenon, Secret Societies, Cults, Faith Healers etc...

I don't know if it's just me, but it looks to me like when someone starts a thread about some of these things, they get a lot of replies rather quickly.

There does seem like there might be be sufficient interest in these things to warrant having such a subforum, and there was a topic in here suggesting it once not long ago (asking for a "Twilight Zone" forum ^_^), but as you see, nothing came of it. I would like a subforum such as that, where we can discuss spiritual topics (and no, I'm not touching the Politics, Philosophy, & Religion forum with a ten-foot pole) and other, similar things. I like Random Discussion, but it's not the best suited for discussing these types of interests for the reasons Moog mentioned. I would also be supportive of simply a General Interests type of forum where we could post such things. That, perhaps, would be broad and encompassing enough to seem worthwhile to whoever makes these decisions.

I agree and a "General Interests" subforum would be great. Which subforum (other than the Random and the Politics, Philosophy & Religion subforums) should I use for the topics I mentioned above?

Until something better comes around, I would go with Random Discussion.

Sounds like a good idea to me. At the moment specific hobby interests soon sink in the Random forum and are gone. I guess there are a lot of people who would like to discuss specific special interest topics.

I think we need something along the lines of a "lifestyle and living skills" forum to talk about things like finances, recipes, keeping house, family matters, driving, and other things related to aspies living independantly.

We need less interest forums and more help/support forums.

That sounds like a great idea for a forum.
