I was hoping to take down a topic forum that I posted. I was just ranting and would like to have it taken down as to offend to many people. Can I do that?

If you are unable to delete your opening post you can always edit it to remove the contents (just leave the word 'deleted' for example). If nobody else has responded to the thread the mods could always lock or remove the thread too if you let us know which thread you are talking about.

Maybe, maybe not, depends whether it has been posted to by anyone else. Which forum is it in? A link would be nice.

The thread has a substantial number of posts by other members so it cannot be removed. The thing to remember with threads is that the person who creates the opening post does not "own" the thread. The only circumstances where a thread is likely to be removed at the request of the original poster is if the thread is of a highly personal nature. Similarly threads are typically only locked if they are getting out of hand and insults are flying.

Give the thread a day or two and it will slide into oblivion with all the other threads.
