Seriously, please for the love of all, can we have a difference in appearance when text is made into a link so people can see it's a link? An underline, a dotted underline, a bold-face... something. Pretty please?

I agree. Perhaps even a different colour? It would look much nicer as well if the font size for URLs was the same as for normal text. In my browser the normal text is larger in size than the URLs.

Agreed, when I first joined I kept posting links without realising no one could see them...until I had PM's asking me where the link I was talking about was. Now I write them like this http://www.google.com - it does the job, but as someone who can spend half an hour writing and rewriting replies having the full 'stands out like a sore thumb' URL sitting in the middle of my post bugs me.

Why don't people just post the darn urls than have the links be in a word where it directs you to a different site?

I kind of like it cos you can hide links that way. It's like invisible ink messages.

No, but seriously, it is rather annoying isn't it?

A workaround is to wrap a colour tag around your 'site name'

Here's my Blog

To do that use

[color=blue]

then close the tag with

/color inside square brackets [ ]

I emailed alex. I don't know if that's the thing to do or not but I figured it couldn't hurt.

That would be the correct thing to do. If you ever get a response please share it :D
