Seems like you're locking almost every thread I post in?

Are you moderators doing this specifically on account of me or what is the deal? Why?

If a person's thread is hijacked, why should it be that the thread is locked rather than just have the derailing posts removed? Once a specific topic is locked, it then becomes taboo forever here, so when you lock a thread it removes a potential discussion from every being allowed again.

I agree that thread that got locked in the PPR was pretty interesting I was looking forward to writing a reply to your response to my initial post

Which thread? The only two I see locked are the one about an account being hijacked and one that had been necro'd that the OP had requested be locked to avoid confusion with current threads of a similar nature - which seemed perfectly reasonable.

Just noticed another thread where you are the OP, that was going downhill, or spiralling out of orbit  so it was locked to diffuse further flaming.

Edit: If that is the thread you are talking about I see no reason to unlock it now and see how it goes again. If flames start again though I'll either lock or be suspending members.

Would you please just remove the flames and reopen the thread, at the request of the OP?

I thought I had replied to your initial post, although it may have been one of the later ones. It may have gotten lost in the mix.

I think I only replied once, unless I am mistaken. But I was thinking about my long post that I know you replied to

Putting out fires is better than demolishing the buildings which are ablaze with everyone in them, although it is easier to lock than to more actively police. I know you guys have a lot to do, but like I said before, when a thread is locked then that topic becomes taboo just because one set of people at one time couldn't behave themselves. Perhaps there should be an exception made for the rules that when a thread is locked for reasons not related to the subject matter (as in the subject is not against the rules, but it is a more transitory issue) that the subject matter of the topic is still permitted. As it is now, people can just flame threads until a mod locks them and then the subject becomes "closed for debate".

You raise a valid point. To be honest when I lock a thread due to flaming it never occurs to me that people may take it that the subject is taboo and closed for debate. I think we are all doing the Aspie thing here of assuming other people know our thoughts and motives when clearly they don't.

I do generally post in threads why they have been locked - unless I think it is obvious, but then what is obvious to me may not be obvious to everyone else. So maybe worth while always stating the reason for thread locks so everyone is clear on whether they can talk about a subject or not.

The longer threads are un-splittable, the site software tries to crucify the moderators computer by dumping every single post of the thread into a massive html page on our screens - which tends to fail, so the only viable solution in those cases is to lock them.
