good idea for a forum?

Is it a good idea to have a Archives forum?

Ive noticed alot of internet message boards have a "The Archives" section, where all the funny or important topics go. only moderators or the admins of the board can put them there or post in that forum, so i was just wondering if you guys/gals thought it would be a good idea for this board.
