I received two errors while attempting to post in random a few moments ago

"General Error: Error while posting"
"General Error: Could not obtain similes data"

Is anyone else getting this?

My guess is that it could be an error in the PHP coding or a bug in the database.

Are you including images? I've noticed some problems with that, particularly when you post multiple images in a post.

Sometimes if I get an error I just back up and click post again, and it works.

Yes, I was trying to quote an image (just one). I'll try again.

Quoting one image shouldn't really be a problem...

Not being a code monkey, I don't have much insight into these kinds of problems.

It worked this time, may have just been a hiccup.

since going into IE8/windows 7, most of my menu bar buttons won't work, i have to enter the corresponding commands [for quotes, youtube, hyperlinks and photos] manually on the keyboard. :hmph: none of the icons in the "view more emoticons" works either.

Well that's odd. Not knowing the cause of that, I can only suggest you try an alternate browser. Someone else might have a better idea, though?

You may have JavaScript disabled.

I currently block it, for WrongPlanet, so I can avoid all the tacky stuff at the top of the pages.

I'm using SeaMonkey (or Firefox) with NoScript (and AdBlock).

I also use BBCodeXtra, so I can easily do colours, and font sizes, amongst lots of other stuff.

Code:
... so I can easily do [color=#009966]colours[/color], and [size=9]font sizes[/size], ...

^^^
obviously i'm no expert on any of this, but i can say that i have all that stuff at the top of my pages so i'm guessing that my java is enabled, aside from the occasional automated java upgrade, after which it goes through a bunch of stuff and then tells me "java is functioning normally on your machine." i can barely use a computer. :hmph:

"Java" and "JavaScript" are two rather different beasts.

Anyway... with Internet Explorer, you get very little chance to see the web any way but how Microsoft dictates to you. You may have JavaScript disabled - or IE may just be broken, as it often is.

Try another browser, and see if the problems disappear.

Personally I would recommend Chrome.
