Nothing here - do you have ads displayed? It may have something to do with that.

Yes, but that's not out of the ordinary.

TPP ahs a good point. barring it being related to mouse settings, some flash ads will apparently cause that to happen at times. an adblocker may be a good idea if you don't already have one installed, auntblabby.

or just close your browser, clean out cache/cookies/history, then reopen and log in again and you might have a new set of ads.

It's the flash ad. You can get programs to turn off flash on certain sites. I had to do that because my computer is having some problems and the flash ads on this site occasionally cause my entire browser to stop responding.

What browser are you using that is causing this problem? I haven't seemed to have experienced any of these problems on here yet as far as I'm concerned?

I'm using Firefox but never had this problem before. Anyway it seems to have stopped for me.

an underpowered celeron with <2GB slow ram, slow hard drive. IE8. supposedly the ad blockers are built in to the antivirus/antimalware norton's installation.

I had this issue in chrome and firefox... just installed the "flashblock" add-on for firefox and it seems to have resolved the problem.

flash block is preferable because we support the site through advertising. If you're having trouble with the site because you have a slow computer, try blocking flash and seeing how that works first. The thing that makes the site slow isn't the ads, it's the fact that flash is a resource intensive bloated software that takes up a lot of your ram and CPU on an older computer.

Image ads, unlike flash ads, are usually not animated so if you're blocking flash completely, the advertising network will load the static image ads instead.

Another thing to try is the chrome browser. ( http://google.com/chrome ) It handles flash differently than all of the other browsers and tends to load things more quickly in general. It's much faster than firefox.

I was initially using chrome when I ran into this issue. Since I couldn't figure out a way to block flash on chrome, I had to switch to firefox and use the addon to block it. If you know of a way to block flash in chrome please post it, because yes it's usually faster and I prefer to use that, but it bogged down just as bad as firefox (if not worse) on this site :(.

Try this:

It's a bit clumsy but looks like it should work well enough.
(don't worry about the "Registry Settings" part at the end: it's tech information only)

Of course, you know the best solution: get a real browser.
