Page Delay Quickly Downloads?

Are there problems with WP? Everytime I click a link to download a page, the page will come up grey and there will be some advertising at the top but the rest of the page will stay blank for a while then the rest of the page will quickly appear. I have a fairly new computer and highspeed internet via cable.

I refreshed a page and appeared to have been logged out. Then I refreshed again and was logged in without entering login details. This site has always been dodgy for me.

Its been real bad for me today too, telling me there is too much traffic. Methinks this site needs overhaul

Yeah, this wasn't just an issue with WP.

One of our routers had a hardware issue that was causing it to spew out broadcasts, which was wreaking havoc on the network. We removed the device from production and everything appears to be fine again. We're planning on running some tests on the hardware and possibly replacing it.

It's been a fun day.

interestingly, i am convinced that now it's actually faster compared to before the hardware issue, but maybe i am wrong?

This was something altogether different from that and it happened right after I made two comments in the General Autism Section of your forum. At the time, I wasn't sure and wanted to see if it was something with the WP website and not just my computer.

But since no one actually described the same thing I was experiencing, I suspect someone was messing with my computer because they didn't like the comments I made in the General Autism Section so this person was making it difficult for me to use the WrongPlanet website. It's probably the same person who hacked my BlackBerry back in the winter of 2009 (because they were looking for information about someone famous and controversial I know) and who has caused me problems here at WrongPlanet periodically since. I've already contacted the FCC and IC3/FBI.

oh, just the grey page with only the header thing. yesterday. then eventually the 'we'll be back in 1 to 2 minutes or less' (!) message

the site would not load at first. i got a blank screen then suddenly the site would load quickly. there was a delay with the white screen before the site would be visible. i also got a few "site not available" type of errors in my firefox browser.

Taupey, i don't think a person could wreak havoc for the whole site because of the controversial people you know, and it is not likely anyone could cause WP (and no other sites) to load improperly for you in isolation from everyone else on the site. i understand that you had problems with someone hacking your BlackBerry and because of that you have a reason to be cautious. but this was an identified issue with a trackable cause (sliqua-jcooter represents the site hosting company so his information can be trusted, and alex provides solid and confirmed information only).

I saw this too and at various times I got long page load delays with choppy performance, generic browser "site timeout" errors and the normal WP "busy" page.
Taupey, if it helps any - checking various technical, network-related stuff from here made it perfectly clear that the problem was located at the WP end of things. It wasn't something done locally to try and prevent users accessing WP.
Also, different browsers on different systems may display a site connection problem in different ways - and typically, many of those aren't even helpful.

I got that earlier too this is something totally different that I'm talking about.



I never said that he wrecked havoc on the whole WrongPlanet website and yes it most certainly is possible for someone to do that with someone's computer because it has happened before but differently. You are assuming it's the same issue just because there was an issue with WrongPlanet earlier. This is something completely different from what happened earlier. Just because something like this has never happened to you before, does not mean it cannot and does not happen to other people. And just because you don't understand how it's done, does not mean it cannot be done.

I remember telling people before that my BlackBerry had been hacked and was being hacked by a writer/journalist two years ago and I have even spoken with Alex before about this same person and that's before all this business with The News Of The World came out. People just like you, told me it was not possible for someone to hack a BlackBerry! Yet the people at AT&T admitted to seeing this person doing this while he was manipulating the WiFi/Internet signals and my friends and neighbors wittnessed it as well. Then all this business came out about The News Of The World hacking phones of dead children, so on and so forth.

I have already contact the FCC and IC3/FBI.

I've been dealing with this person for the last two years, I've had lots of experience learning the little games he plays. After reading what people said they experienced here yesterday and knowing what I know now, I seriously doubt this is a WrongPlanet issue.

So believe whatever you want Lex. I know you cannot sit there in Canada behind your computer and tell me with any certainty that someone was not messing with my computer in Virginia yesterday evening. I have nothing more to say that I haven't said already.
