How does one get them? Also, what are the little bars that fill up under your username?

Points I don't know what you mean, but the bar fills up every time you hit a certain number of posts. I think it's every 75 or so. That also changes your little title under you username. Mine is that 'D' thing at the moment. It follows a bird theme for some reason.

The little squares fill up underneath your name and are completely full at 500 posts. Up until then, there are bird-themed rankings. The reason behind the bird-theme remains a mystery to me. At 500 posts, you will become a "Veteran" and at 1000, you get to choose a custom title for yourself.

So if you see anyone with a different title underneath their username, this means that they have more than 1000 posts total.

Or 1000 exactly, but that doesn't last long.

Mitch, that 'D' thing, or Deinonychus, is a kind of dinosaur similar to a Velociraptor, which is also another rank. They relate to the bird theme because birds are thought to have evolved from dinosaurs. So there you have it.
