I lost my PM rights because I messaged a person asking for money a year and a half ago. But the reason I did that was that I have been, myself, lied to by the scammer, and I believed whatever the scammer told me (including the fact that the money the member sends would be returned). I was simply unaware that there is such a thing as scam (until I found out that particular man was a scammer) and I was similarly unaware that asking members for money is against the rules. Both of this is due to the fact that, as a result of Asperger, I have isolated myself and don't know how the real world operates. Right now I am, obivously, aware of these things since i learned the hard way. So I won't repeat these mistakes again. Furthermore, I am not involved with that scammer any more (I cut off all contact with him almost a year ago). In light of this, can my PM rights be restored?

I can't do it myself, but I'll talk to the admin about your situation. It might take a while, but I'll let you know, OK?

Funny enough, even NTs fall for this too so I don't even know where to draw the line for when something is an aspie thing and when somethings is not. But it's easy to blame it on your condition.

The professor who took me to the Institute in India believes it is an aspie thing. And she is mad at the professor at USA who recommended me for not telling about my Asperger because if he did, she wouldn't want me to be here. She feels that the thing with the scammer proves that ppl with Asperger just can't manage in India.

Well my point is that people with Asperger can learn. I have now learned and I will NEVER fall for anything else like this again. But it is very hard to convince ppl in India about it since I kept sending money to that guy even after he didn't return it first few times.

On my end of a line I know this is NOT because I "don't learn". It is because I got sucked in. So, regardless of how many times I sent money to THAT GUY, I knwo I won't get involved with ANY OTHER scammer. But somehow it is hard to convince the professors in India about it. They just feel like "Roman has Asperger so everything is because of Asperger and he can never learn".

I wish others could see this too, like that prof in India.

Another thing worth mentioning is this: the prof in India knew about scammer all along. But she never said anything to me because when we were talking about other things that were completely unrelated, it appeared that I would argue about everything said and that I seemed unreceptive. So she decided "no point talking to Roman he wouldn't hear me anyway". Instead, she started emailing prof in USA about scammer and asking HIM to tell me to stop sending him money; but prof in USA is notorious procrastinator so he never said anything.

Now, if prof in India didn't DECIDE that I "wouldn't hear anyway" and were actually to TALK to me about it, then this whole story with scammer would have never happened. But BECAUSE she decided not to even try, I got sucked in, and once I was, it was too late to try, I just kept sending him money, proving her right.

In other words it is self fulfilling prophecy. If others wern't making assumptions I can never learn may be there would have been more communication and I WOULD have learned faster.

So did you discuss it with mods? What did they say?

Mods cannot do what you have asked. We have asked for Admin assistance but these things can take weeks. We will let you know as soon as we have an answer.

Hi, why do things take weeks anyway? What are you busy with?

A good question that deserves to be answered properly.

Only Alex the site owner has access to do certain things and he often goes for several weeks without responding to, or interacting with his moderators or having anything to do with his site. So all you can do is wait.

Doesn't this bother you mods a bit? Honestly.

Hey, if not for Alex this site wouldn't even exist, and he does have a life besides WrongPlanet that includes making media to educate the public. Guy's gotta eat too, and he just moved cross-country. Waiting for weeks isn't bad. If we were talking months or years, then you'd have more of a case to complain.

It's cool Alex has his phone number to contact him on every page of this web site. I called last Fall just to see if it was for real. He sent me a PM reply. Yes, it did take weeks, but I still respect the guy for answering.

I was in WP chat a month or two ago and was amazed to find Alex. It was during his move. I asked about him possibly interviewing me for one of his shows because what I do is a rather unusual way of coping with my autism. He said he'd like to film me doing my Bicycling Guitarist thing. I haven't heard back yet, but it would be better in late Spring, Summer or Fall anyway because I can only do this when the weather isn't cold or wet.

I had a helper from the Regional Brokerage try to get me a place where I could ride and play indoors this past Winter. Everywhere fell through this time, but she will keep trying and maybe by next Winter I will have a place to ride indoors when the weather is cold and wet outside. The YMCA handball rooms were just about a meter too narrow for me to make the turns because of their hardwood floors. If there had been concrete or carpet, I could have done it. The local community college said their gym was too busy. Other places wanted to charge exorbitant rents, and every place was worried about liability. My helper explained that I have done this for tens of thousands of miles the past thirty years without incident, and that I need to do it as the only way I have yet found of finding relief from some of the physical and psychological stresses of my neurology.

Alex is the God here.

He's the one who created this planet but he rarely communicates with the creatures , and rarely responds to their requests.

Maybe it's time to do rain dance.

I don't care how busy he is. He can always assign someone to handle the forum for him in his absence as an assistant administrator. The fact he doesn't means that he doesn't take this forum seriously as much as some of the members here do.
