When someone's avatar has a picture of a person who is staring directly at you, do you get uncomfortable? I cannot read the post of anyone whose avatar is of a picture of a person.

If it's a 'starey' picture (person looking intensely at the camera). If they're just looking calm it doesn't bother me too much.

You should try disabling images. Most modern browsers can do it, and Firefox 2.0 can do it on a per-site basis. You can still load images, but you do it manually per-image. It makes pages load faster too.

How's mine?

I'm not speaking for everyone, but yours is OK. No pupils, I suppose. And he's looking down, too.

If you have Ad-Block you can block the specific image.

Depends. 'Starey' person, yes. Calm people...sometimes.

If it's a starey animal, I tend to go 'awwwww...cute' and stuff rather than being freaked out.

Choose your battles. If I had a list of things to fix on this forum, eyes-in-avatars wouldn't even be on that list.

Be sensible.

My eyes on my avatar are not looking at you. Peter Griffin has better things to do then spy on people.

He's too busy looking for his penis.

Future apologies if that's too mature or anything offensive like that.
