Today for some reason I can't log in to WP via my laptop although I'm logged in fine via Safari on my phone. I haven't changed any of my cookie settings and I've tried via both Chromium and Firefox to no avail. :?

What can be the reason? Has a mod banned me or locked me out? I don't think they can have. :? I'm logged in! (just not via my computer).

Not sure if this is a WP problem or a problem with my computer. :?

Is there any message given?
Are you trying to use Chromium or Firefox while you're still logged in via Safari? I'm not sure how WP might handle it, but many sites will only allow one occurrence of a username to be logged in at any given time.

Thank you for replying.:)

It says the password is incorrect, but I know it's not.

I'm often logged in on two devices simultaneously and it's never been a problem on WP before.

Hmm, odd.
Useful to know that WP allows multiple logins, but still...

I'm wondering if this might be related to CloudFlare security measures and multiple logins have now been disallowed?
The error message is a bit of a puzzle though, because I would expect something specifically stating that you're already logged in. Was it clearly a browser error message?

To try and isolate what's happening, and to get an idea if it's in any way machine-related - would you mind trying a few things for me?
Firstly, log out from WP via Safari and close that browser.
Then on your PC, start one of Firefox or Chromium and try to log in. If that fails, close the browser and try it with the other one.

WP has been acting up lately. Sometimes it will say this site is offline and it;s only a cached version and then there is a button saying to re try live version so I do and I am back on the forum again for real and it says I am logged in. Under the caches version it says I am logged out but when i try and log in, it won' let me.

Sorry for wasting your time, Cornflake.

Turns out it was neither a WP problem nor a computer problem. It was an all_white problem.

That statement was wrong.

I've just realised I was typing one digit wrongly. My password algorithm is so complex and has so many rules to it that I often get mixed up.

Anyway, I'm back now! Ready to play tug of war with you again!

Silly me! LOL

 You silly mis-typing type person, you...

Very pleased (and more than a little relieved) to hear it's just finger trouble!

Well, no, it wasn't finger trouble, it was brain trouble. I mean I was typing it wrong in the sense that I thought it was a certain number when in fact it should have been a certain other number.

User error!! !! !!

*Hangs head in shame*

We had a technical term for this in IT: PEBKAC
"Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair"

Oh, do you do that kind of job?

I used to work in a call centre, too (not an IT one).

Some days it was absolutely hilarious and some days it was so stressful you wanted to die!!

That was my last job ever. I literally had a nervous breakdown as a result of it and never quite recovered!

Never in a call centre - just through being involved with IT for a long time on many levels.
