That's an issue that a lot of people here are struggling with, but there isn't a forum addressing this specifically.

In this forum, people could request and provide advice on the process of coming to terms with themselves as people, something that everyone, especially aspies, can have problems with.

Does anyone agree or disagree?

Or perhaps we should specify a forum area to post such in. Currently, the best options seem like the "Member's Only Discussion" or "The Haven". Either of these two areas should be sufficient.

I don't see how either of those two forums would be good for personal development. I think where you should post depends on the type of personal development. like personal development with goal of attracting mate --> love and dating, and personal development to help get more friends --> friendship and gen social interaction.

My impression of what gsilver was talking about was general acceptance of oneself. Since it can be a sensitive topic, the logical choice would be one of the forums I suggested. However, if it relating to a specific topic that belongs in another forum, then so be it.

No, I'm talking more along the lines of self-esteem issues, emotional maturity, depression issues, time management, general self-management, and other internalized factors. The current forums mostly deal with externalized factors.

Is it possible to develop?

I seem to be stuck in a loop of arguements, misunderstandings, self-destructive impulses and depression. And the thing that really annoys me is the fact that I never seem to LEARN anything so that I can change.

I'm quite clever, I think, so why do I keep acting so bloody stupid?

That would likely belong in the Member's Only forum area... or perhaps the Haven, unless it relates specifically to another topic, such as self esteem or time management at work or school. The "Friends and General Social Interaction" would also likely be an appropriate place to post about the above topics.

If all else fails and a thread clearly doesn't belong in a forum, I do not doubt that the mods would be both able and willing to move it to the correct forum.

Sociable hermit..

It took me years to work out that though I'm definately not stupid, I had repressed certain parts of myself for SO LONG that they surfaced in ways and times beyond my control.

Far from stupidity, maybe you just need to stay away from stressful situations until you work it out?

Oh and.. I just wanna say I've been here say 1-2 months, maybe more, and I love WP, i've learnt a lot here already.

You remember me!? Why thankyou :)

I come from the sun!

I think the only real thing that needs changing or working on here, is trying to help the anti-opinion league that seems to be developing...

Hmmm... internalized factors? Self management, self improvement, etc, generally trying to figure yourself out (obsess about it, analyze it to death and try to figure out where different things are coming from, what's going on, and what you wanna do about it - accept it or work on it)? My mind loves to fixate on stuff like that and I think it would be great to have more people talking about the same kinds of things. A place where you can 'think out loud' as you sort through different issues. As it is now, I've only found one person who I can really discuss certain things with (he can see where I'm coming from and he's patient enough to listen while I obsessively think stuff through :) ) I don't know if we necessarily need a separate folder for this stuff, but I'd love to hear more people talking about the internalized factors.

I agree, this is one of my favourite topics, I've obsessed over it for around 8 years now, I think our wisdom combined could shed a lot of light for a lot of people.
