Wrongplanet should revise the options of "self diagnosed", "professionally diagnosed". They should add a third option, called "unofficially diagnosed by a professional". Some of us have had psychologists give us an "unofficial diagnoses of aspergers", but without testing , its not a very formal diagnoses.

Wrong section. This should be posted in about the site or whatever it's called here.

Well I think under WP terms, since most people are self diagnosed here, that counts as a diagnosis.

Agree with original poster. I've been unofficially diagnosed by several professionals, but the proper testing is hard to come by in my area

Also, the option of diagnosed with traits of Asperger's might be useful.

Or "have Asperger traits"

I never heard of anyone being diagnosed with Asperger traits. I dunno if my nephew was or not. My husband told me his (nephew's) psychiatrist said he has aspie traits. I assumed that meant he has traits but not enough to meet the criteria so he wouldn't have AS. But he does have ADHD.

I think the OP raises an interesting point.
About having Aspergers traits I don't see that to be much different as self diagnosed unless a medical professional is stating that, thus falling under that bracket of "Professionally Diagnosed" the OP is proposing WP implement on profiles.

My therapist has given me an informal diagnosis and I have not yet gone for further testing, so I too think the OP makes a good suggestion.
