Someone needs to deal with the content of the wp chat room

For some /ignore is ok, but it reaches a point in the wp chat room where oppinions are exepted as fact, and certain individuals suggesting that another chatter should commit suicide goes unnoticed by ops. The chat room is full of talk of suicide, death, and whatever morbid subject suits. While some are able to let it go, others, for who wp is their only contact wih other humans, may not be able to. You can accuse me black and blue of being aggressive in the chat, but where is a line drawn beteen being aggressive toward an individual who is suggesting in other words that another should kill themselves, and being aggressive just for the sake of it? It feels to me as ops are afraid to deal with individuals like this as they are on good terms with other ops and wp staff. maybe if some people had felt what it is like to be depressed, and felt desperate, and the last thing they needed was a person suggesting they should kill themselves, maybe some appropriate action would be taken.

I notice all most all your few post are trashing WP except one were you call Kurt Cobain your hero. My friends hate him for killing himself and killing his music. Maybe if
you stop worshipping persons who kill themself, talk of mere mortals expressing depression want bother you.

Oh and using multiply usernames is not permited in the TOS of WP.

This is not the point machine, I have no problem with people expressing depression, I have a problem with already depressed people having it suggested to them that maybe they should commit suicide. Kurt Cobain's music has been there for me when nobody else has, and anyhow wasen't he expressing depression? Yes I know he died in a terrible way, but that dos not change how much of a great person and musician he was, and unlike the wp chat, his songs don't hint that maybe people should kill themselves.

I think WP members can judge from your tone in this reply what the truth of the matter here is in your problems with the chatroom (and I would be shocked if you and the OP are not the same person). People treated me nice in the chatroom but then again I treated others nice.

then you have not been in there recently with people saying that others should be killed, and the ops saying that it was his free speach, yet, me defending myself got me kicked. Bobalobafuckaduck can say what ever the hell he wants, and if i ever complain to any of the ops besides ecs, i get put down. And recently, i was told, in not so many words by El_castro, to kill myself, and later, it was told to No_hope, the person that started this thread, that a good friend of mine had killed herself, so, if you don't know what you are speaking of, DO NOT SPEAK!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

I have read the new rules, and they seem ok in theory, I don't know about practice. Anyways I have emailed wp and apologized for some of my behavour in the chat room, but I also feel you should listen to what people have to say in this thread. I got banned after I defended Rakkety against a particularly nasty attack, as he explains above, therefore I am banned, not El_castro, who I beleive is still in the chat.

Well I've read the new rules, and it states that anyone banned from the chat room must email wp and apologise for their actions, well I've done just that and I have got no response. Could anyone help me?

I have not suggested anyone should kill themselves.

Okay now I'm mad somebody in the chatroom suggested Bush get a third term. I want
them banned

they dont need banning, they already have punishement enough by the laughing stock they made of themselves by saying third term, because of course according to the US constitution no body can serve more than 2 terms, ergo the person who suggested it is ret*d and is too stupid to even understand what the word ban probably means

as for all this stuff about chatroom, well im sorry but if you political correctness then bugger off, if you dont like someones view what kind of excuse is that to ban or ignore them? You have to be careful, the more you start implementing sanctions against free speech, the more people will rebel, and it becomes a fight between liberal revoloutionaris who want free speech and more than likely christian conservatives who refuse to allow these people on the chatroom if they express any opinion different to theirs, and it can work both ways, the conservative people can be exiled and then they lose THEIR freedom of speech. its all a very slippery slope.

The WP chat can be decidedly unfriendly. If you put a group of people with poor social skills together in the same place, people will be offended/hurt/mocked every time. This is what the internet is all about, I imagine, but there isn't much that will save the WP chat.
The long standing regular users of that chat seem to get special passes to insult, humiliate and mock new people and the ops are then more likely to block the new person rather than the regular who was causing the trouble. /ignore is available, but why those toxic regulars are allowed to stay is anyone's guess. Perhaps they could make a new place to chat amongst themselves without tarnishing the reputation of this site.

You could be right about that. My first time I logged on the chat room I was banned
for not acting as the others did(even though I did not say one thing negative or in violation of the TOS). So your right its kinda a club where outsiders are not welcome anyway. When you add that fact with the fact that some unknow person can ban you at anytime its not a place I like to goto anyway. Plus I like to real time chat one on one with someone I like not a big group circle jerk. The concept of IRC/chat rooms had a very negative view when I was in college. I even viewed the IRC logs on the
system at my college and new the dirt on everyone.

But if you do not like the chat room you change it by brute force you get as many like minded people as you can log on and have at it. They ban you you uses proxies and keep wearing them down till they all leave and the new user base is your club of a$$ that do the same thing to the next set of victums.
