The search feature seems to be broken.

When I type anything into the search box, I simply get a page where the results area is blank.

I think this is on my end, but I want to be sure.

It seems to be your end - I typed the word anything into the search box and unsurprisingly, many occurrences here were found.

JavaScript has to be enabled, though I do not remember disabling it.

Yes, I had this problem, too. It turned out to be the Ghostery extension for Chrome blocking it. I fixed it by allowing "Google AJAX Search API" in Ghostery. If you don't have Ghostery it might be some other similar extension.
