I just heard a trailer that seemed to be coming from nowhere. I was on this site and Youtube but the video was paused, so this appears to the be only other place it could come from, though I looked in every opened tab and found nothing. But I thought I'd ask if there are meant to be some ads that play automatically and are, for some reason, hidden from us, like people sometimes do with music they put on their profile of a social networking site.
Or if something has installed itself on my computer that plays ads every now and then automatically (that has actually happened once before).

A few members have mentioned in the past that WP has had sound based ads - it tends to freak people out when silence in broken with some crappy sound based advert. Alex has gotten rid of them in the past; maybe another one has sneaked in via Google ads. Personally I block all adverts (visual and audible) so wouldn't be aware of them anyway.

Thanks. Glad it's not just on my computer :)
How do you block every ad? I have a pop up blocker on, even though that doesn't seem to work on some sites

Adblock plugin.

When I first started reading this forum, the sidebar was filled with animated ads and it drove me nuts. :(

Use the Adblock plugin for Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

If you're using an iOS device, change your DNS server. I recommend using AdBarricade or FoolDNS

I'll second that^, the animated ads were utterly distracting & unbearable.
Since I got Firefox's AdBlocker Plus, no more troubles with all of that.
