men only discussion forum
Of course, it's only exclusive in it's topics; nothing prevents men from viewing or commenting. If there's a specific topic that you only want input from men, I'd put that in the mature subjects forum and say that you only want men to comment. There's nothing preventing women from viewing it, though.

There isn't one. I think there should be because sometimes you just want feedback from other men, but that's aside from a political issue mind you.
You're allowed to post there.
Can't think your'e opinions would be given any credit !
Please understand that the founding principle of WP is our 'Family Friendly' and positive engagement with individuals suffering social disenfranchisement
All the Men Only forums have descended into blatantly sexist and frankly disgusting discussions of human body parts
and have, thankfully, been discontinued
All specific questions concerning masculinity and sexual relationships must now be entered as separate threads in the
'Adult Autism Issues' forum
Have a nice day

So essentially the male only discussion forum doesn't exist because discussion may not be sensible without scrutiny from women?
As for the thing about parts, it's ok to discuss things related to womens parts, seen a few threads on breasts, hymen, etc.. and posts on mens stuff exist anyway if I remember, or something related. For the maturity thing.. tell me all the posts that are spread amongst various sections that could easily go into a mens section are mature.
I think there is a genuine purpose for a mens section of the forum and it has to do with dating. For example a woman may disagree with a dating concept that was in a post, which was only besides the point or related to it rather than being the actual point. In that case I would like male only feedback rather than argue a point because women have a different perspective and often disagree (or just call BS), and potentially can lead to a tangent or side debate that stops feedback by turning it into something else.
I had the idea the other day to make a (huge) post that would have given men genuine dating advise that I found useful in the past and invite them to share theirs. I don't think that's a possibility when I know most women will just call BS (or get offended by my POV) on most of it due to having a completely different perspective. It wouldn't be productive.
If there was such a discussion section and maturity was low, why not just put an age limit on that section rather than delete it?
Also for gender specific threads why not the rule that people enter on the understanding that some topics could be found offensive or objectionable (mostly for the opposite sex) even if it's clearly not the OP's purpose. I'm guessing threads that are deliberately offensive is not allowed anyway, right?
That's my take on that anyway and I see no reason not to have a mens thread. It can only be a good and productive thing for mens dating issues when it doesn't turn into a debate or a matter of gender or "battles of the sexes". Besides, women have a place to post without offending men right? By way of common sense It's our fault if we choose to wander into the womens discussion section and get offended or read something objectionable to us, so why not a section for men that will be the same?

Do you call endless threads with teen boys locker room talk and penis size competitions sensible? There was not one genuinely helpful thread about dating or mens issues in the entire subforum, it was all sex/penis puppetry talk and that was really honestly truly it. Women manage to keep the women's forum mature and sensible without the need for the opposite genders input to keep it steered on the right track. Women didn't seem to participate in the mens discussion too much (all the revved up testosterone was a little intimidating for me personally). And the whole bitter WP gender antagonism wasn't in existence back then. The judgement of it's content and the decision to remove it was made by Alex all on his lonesome. He saw it as an exact side by side replica of the adult forum so he removed it. You can't even use the Wayback Machine to check it out, the forum had that short of an existence.
See the join date there under my avatar? I was here when the mens forum was and you weren't, so please don't make ignorant assumptions about a time in WP history you know nothing about.
A member here even made a 100% mens autism site/forum and it folded within months due to......wait for it.....Nobody Posting There.
There's already a thread about sizes in the adult forum. None of that means that aren't those who will find that useful. Also as you say it's history, so why would we assume it would be the same or that it can't be done in a useful way? My whole post there isn't about the past. I also mentioned that I think it would work with an age restriction if it's a question of maturity. Of course a forum that tackles only mens issues isn't going to be succesful - I'd expect that.
So let me get this right, I talk about the possibility of a future possible section for men and you call me ignorant? Nice flaming.
That's not a legitimate question? If it was tried people are free to say that. Actually I was hoping to know if it had been tried.
So you're saying men require the supervision of women? I find that just plain offensive.
A men's forum was tried and it rapidly became a cesspit, so it was removed.
The women's forum remains because it didn't go the same way.
savvyidentity, the upshot is that a men-only forum will not be created in the foreseeable future.
If you think one should, feel free to present your request to Alex - along with a method of preventing it from becoming another cesspit. There is no-one else with the authority to create new forums here.
Railing against blue_bean will not help and no answer will be forthcoming on this thread, so I'll lock it now.
