Hi WP team,

My inbox is getting full and my sentbox (read) is almost completely full. It hit 100% a couple of days ago and I had to delete things in it which I didn't want to do. It's good to have a record of everything that's happened since joining WP. Wanted to ask this publicly in case others have the same question but is there a way you can increase the quotas for the Inbox feature at all?

Pics in edits - editing a post and including a picture in the edit doesn't work. It brings up an error message and the only way around it is simply to post the URL to the pic without showing it.

Blogs - a lot of similar editing issues with the Blog feature and various workarounds have to be made in order to post any actual message. Also, I noticed there isn't much protection against spambots in the Blog feature of the site.

Profiles - A lot of fields that you can fill in that are intended to show on your profile page don't show up such as Real Name, Extra Info, Twitter, Friendfeed (I think), and Blog if you choose to have a URL instead of the blog feature. On top of this a lot of the contact options are somewhat outdated - instead of ICQ, AIM and MSN wouldn't it be more appropriate to have Skype, XBOX Live, PSN ID?

Signatures - On the Edit Profile section it says you an include HTML. I've tried that and BB code and neither of it works. Even the basics. Various ASCII also doesn't work. Is this likely to change in future?

General usability of the site - it's getting worse sadly. I won't go any further than that as we have enough topics on it but it's starting to buckle under the pressure of that amazing 75,000+ user count.

Any comments on the above from Moderators, Mr. Plank would be awesome.
Opinions from WP donors, contributors or just regulars like me also welcome.

Once any of the mailboxes become full the oldest items are automatically pushed off the end to make room for newer items as they arrive.
But, while it's technically possible to increase the quotas (and Alex's decision alone), it seems reasonable to ask: at which point should a member take responsibility for keeping their own records of their private conversations? After all, they are private and form no part of the general public forums, so there is maybe less justification for finding the increased server storage costs which would result.
The current limits on WP are: Inbox=700, Sentbox=200, and Savebox=100 - which is pretty generous: the default limits on the current version of phpBB are 50 per box.
Even if the limit is increased by 100, it won't be enough at some point so it's increased by another 100 - and so on. Personally, I just save the few things I really need to keep in local text files.

Which error message - is this something other than the annoying "smilies error" and similar image-related bugs seen ordinarily?
Those errors are apparently dependent on the image file format and occasionally, its source and while we all know it would be better if they didn't happen at all, I'd be surprised to hear of a new variant that appears only when adding an image through a post edit. (not that that's any excuse - I'm just curious about there being an image-related error occurring on edit only)

The blogging feature here is broken. Just let it go and use something that works, like the free Google or WordPress blogs.

Unused options are... unused. No-one dies.
The other items are most likely outdated because the forum software is outdated.

The documentation is out of date and probably refers to functionality available to the original code set. Signatures currently allow plain ASCII and the basic site emoticon set only, and it's extremely unlikely to be changed to allow much more because... it's not necessary.
Links can be incorporated just by adding them as-is: they become clickable automatically with no need for [url] tags etc.
Basically - it's a sig line, not a personal declaration or art gallery. I've been on sites where some signatures are a noisy fruit salad of html effects and flashing nonsense, often many times longer than the post, so anything here that helps restrain what the signature area can be used for is fine by me and I suspect, many others.

Bottom line: the forum software is what it is, and I've seen nothing to indicate that any changes will be made to this version of it. At all.
While it might be possible to tweak a few things like message box limits, that seems unlikely considering the more important things which are unaddressed.
