Do we have to have all these crazy feckin adverts and banners jumping around all over the darn place ?

Many of us in here have concentration issues so they're extremely distracting and very , very annoying which puts my sky high stress levels even higher ! !! !! !

Go to:

Settings > Wi_Fi > your network > Change your DNS number to:

87.118.111.215

This will block most ads, along with phising sites.

Yikes , I don't normally change settings that I don't understand :)

Is it safe to make those changes ?

I'd be in serious trouble if it slowed down our WIFI ..

It's a service offered by Google.
I'm not sure whether it works on non Chrome OS enabled devices, though.

I keep getting a weird little pop-up one which I have to reload the page to get rid of.

I'll wait for it to come again so I can give more detail. I had some malware a little while ago (that news.net stuff) so maybe it's a remnant of that?

The different DNS IP suggested by Kuribo?
No, it's not: http://www.fooldns.com/fooldns-communit ... h-version/

Changing your DNS will only effect your device, and not anyone else you live with. You can revert to your default DNS server at any time by deleting the number and closing Settings.

The tablet and phone ads on Wrong Planet are absolutely insufferable. The desktop ones may be annoying, but they are tolerable.

The tablet and phone ads take up a significant amount of screen real estate, they flicker on and off, they don't move until you've finished scrolling the page...

They're just f*****g awful. I'd rather not block ad revenue from WP, but when they're this intrusive, I refuse to tolerate it.
