pages hang for 15s after loading

I find that WP pages seem to load quickly, but then freeze until the Share and Share This options appear at the top of the screen, which takes about 10-15 seconds.

This gets annoying after a while. Is it me? Running Win7, IE9.

As with other web sites - if an external site is being used as part of some page and it doesn't respond immediately, the display of the whole page can be delayed until it does respond.
I have no use for stuff like that, here and elsewhere, so I block it and avoid any delays that may be caused by it - but I don't think IE supports such things. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a more capable browser?
Alternatively; it's probably some temporary problem and will soon pass.

Having the same problem, it's so bad I don't even bother logging in anymore.

What, as opposed to simply blocking items to stop the delays?
This is also extremely effective on any site subjected to delays caused by external content and/or cluttered with distracting ads.
