mine would be special needs programs and support groups a medication or maybe a self help skills thread

I can't think of just one, but I'd like to see a bunch more Topical Discussion forums. Because we all have special interests we need to discuss. In addition to the current ones: Games and Video Games, Television, Film, and Video, Art, Writing, and Music, Computers, Math, Science, and Technology, and Politics, Philosophy, and Religion, I'd like to see probably these added.

Social Studies, Geography, History, Urban Planing
Transportation, Aviation, Trains, etc.
Current Events
Economics
Fashion, Beauty
Hobbies and Recreation
Pets
Psychology
Travel

There are probably other good categories that I'm not thinking of.

I'd split art, writing & music into 3 separate categories.

They are. But some people are interested in painting/drawing. Some people are interested in writing. Some people are interested in music. People don't necessarily have cross interests in all the arts. As a matter of fact ASD people tend to have very narrow interests. So the chances of a WP member being interested in all arts is probably small. They could be better served with individual forums.
