My account page is showing that I have an incoming message, but I cannot find out how to access it. Any suggestions?

In the top right of your browser window you should see the links "Inbox", "My Account" and "Log out".
Click on the "Inbox" link to access your PMs.

There is a chance you will find no message waiting - if someone sends a PM and removes it before the recipient has opened it, the PM vanishes but the recipient's alert remains.
This can also happen as we deal with PM scammers - some were removed a little earlier which might generate false alerts because any unread PMs they'd sent are also removed.

Thanks CornFlake, but it doesn't work - originally the Inbox word was replaced with '1 New Message', but when I clicked, it said the folder was empty. Now, when I click on 'My Account' and scroll down, it says that I have '1 New Message', but when I click, it still says that the folder is empty.

Can you access my account, and email me?

Apologies - I'd edited my post to expand it as your post arrived.
Does it now better explain what happened with your account?

I just tried to send you a PM, but it showed an error. I am using a ChromeBook with ChromeOS, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem?

The functionality lies with the website, not the browser, so provided the site is displayed correctly and responds I wouldn't anticipate problems with any browser.
What was the error message?

I just tried again to send you a PM, and it said that I could not send a post so soon after my last!

Yes, that's correct.
It's a measure designed to prevent flooding someone with PMs, and you'll find the same thing happens when you try to make posts to a forum too quickly.

I did receive your PM, so does this mean I was correct about the false PM alert and there are now no further errors?

CornFlake, thanks for your help - I have now received two PMs from you, but not the original PM which seems to be lost.

This was the error message which I have twice received whilst trying to access my Inbox - phpBB : Critical Error

Error doing DB query userdata row fetch

I've explained above what most likely happened with the first PM, and also asked you to read that response in your PM to me about it.

The phpBB error you quote is one of many similar errors that pop up from time to time: the site software is quite old and being pushed beyond what it can comfortably handle.
In most cases, for a "read" operation such as accessing your Inbox or reading a post, clicking your browser's refresh/reload button (occasionally requiring more than one attempt) is sufficient to resolve the issue.

My Inbox now contains 2 messages (both from you), but my Account Page says that I have 3 messages - one message has been lost!
