Hi Folks,

When posting in the forums, is there any hard limit on the size of posts in bytes, characters, lines, etc?

Regards,
Rob

Where very long posts are made here they're usually copy/pasted website content which amounts to republishing and likely to cause problems with copyright, so we will truncate those and insist on a link to the site instead.

But we have removed other original content on the basis of the extreme length disrupting the normal forum layout and in general, when something lengthy needs to be posted here, a short introduction plus link to an external site is always preferable.
We take the view that WP isn't a blog or a conventional website - it's a forum aimed at facilitating conversations and posts are generally expected to conform to relatively short to/from lines or paragraphs in a threaded conversation.

If you have something specific in mind related to your promotional work, this would be better positioned on the front page of the site where support for such things is provided.
As you know, making use of that space can only be addressed via Alex.

Thanks! Actually, I'm going to start a poll and want to include a backgrounder for it. And, I don't think it will reach the near the length of some posts I've seen. I just didn't want to put it up and find that a portion had been truncated, so the backgrounder would be partial or out of context because of missing content. Thanks again. You are always helpful.
