I apologize if this has been discussed before.

First of all, I don't have anything at all against the Random Discussion and Off the Wall: Forum Games, Quizzes, Roleplaying, etc. I have posted in these forums myself, and find it fun sometimes. But I at the same time. I can't help to think that these forums essentially just contains spam.

I know a few places where posting in these categories doesn't add up to the total number of post. And I feel that is more logical, even though they are posts just like in all other categories.

What do people think? Should posts in the two "spam" categories count towards post count?

When someone makes a post to WP their post count is incremented.
That's all it is; it seems logical that the post count should indicate any posts made to WP.

Also, your categorisation of "spam" is incorrect because the posts you're referring to are on-topic in their designated forums: they cannot therefore be spam. :nerdy:

Yes.

Main reasoning for this is really simple - Because then you're not creating a false sense of someone's post count.

We're in the process of upgrading the forum software. So any new feature requests will not be addressed until we've successfully ported all the existing features.

yeah the of the wall is essentially one word posts so i can see why that would cause misleading postcounts.

Okay, I was just asking because I've seen other forums do it this way. And I kinda feel getting the title as "Veteran" after having posted in counting threads 500 times is kinda silly. But I also agree that any post should be considered a valid posts.

It's not spam. But it exists in huge amounts, and it's not as valuable as the posts in the other forums.

Again; I'm not condoning posting in the Random Discussion and Off the Wall: Forum Games, Quizzes, Roleplaying, etc.

I'm very glad to hear this. I feel an upgrade is very much needed. Any ETA on this?

Glad to hear that someone sees my point :D

Ah, so a post should be counted only if it's "valuable"?
I can see huge problems with this already...

True, it can happen in any forum  But generally these forums can be used as a way to "spam" your way to a high post count. And that is my point.

That's nice to know. This forum is so buggy now. I'm also annoyed at the lack of features. It would be nice to see people's age, gender and diagnosis without going on their profile. It would also be nice to have custom genders and diagnoses.
