Broken images due to CloudFlare DDOS page

I posted about this in the CloudFlare thread, but it's still happening and nobody else seems to complain. Do the forums not look like this for others?



When I select "Open image in new tab" it goes to the CloudFlare DDOS protection page ("Checking your browser before accessing wrongplanet.net" ). Some images seem worse than others. Eg. the New Topic image is never a problem, but http://cdn.wrongplanet.net/modules/Foru ... ky_new.gif has been refreshing that page for several minutes now without showing the image. Normally it does show up after 1-3 attempts, though.

Also: http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules/Foru ... /blank.gif returns 403 Forbidden.

The WP images come and go all the time when I'm using WP. The site is showing ever more signs of decrepitude and infirmity.
Typically the view latest post icon disappears and the icons indicating new posts alongside threads are broken as are the icons on the index page. Five minutes later some work again, later in the day they are broken again. Also affected are the buttons for edit / quote / delete posts (plus extra ones the mods can see). WP is going through death spasms. The sooner Alex gets the new version running the better. I gather it won't be long now (though specific date not specified).

Here's how that forum appears right now:


Currently I have no broken icons anywhere except for a varying number of the additional icons moderators see - those are rendered as clickable links instead.
This has also happened intermittently, but quite often, with icons shown in the "Last Post" column of thread displays.

I get one instance of the "Checking your browser" screen on my first access of the day and if I don't access WP at all for around 30 minutes, on my first access after that I see it once more.
If I continue to access WP without such breaks, I'll maybe see it a couple more times for no obvious reason during the remainder of my time here (typically several hours).

The scale of CloudFlare issues is variable and not consistent between members; it seems to be related to the ISP or IP address used to access WP.


ETA: an hour later and after a page refresh to check for new posts I see that most of the icons in the leftmost column of wp.net are now not displaying. The next page refresh simply rearranged those not displaying, another reduced this to about 5, and another refresh resulted in no broken icons.
Subsequent refreshes also display no broken icons.

ETA #2: even later, and all of those icons were broken on the first page refresh - with a second refresh restoring them all.

The broken image issue has been hitting more often here as well. It is something I just deal with due to it being mostly a cosmetic issue. What I find highly annoying is that blasted DDoS screen thing popping up repeatedly. Sometimes I only get it when I first come to the forum. Other times every time I go to a different thread or next page of same thread it pops up repeatedly. Last night was the worst. I lost count (well over 20) how many times that silly rotating whatchamacallit kept coming up with the 5 second wait message. And it seems more like 30 seconds or more NOT 5. But why does it keep hitting me so often? It is really getting on my last nerve.
