I was recently banned for life on WP for SPAM. I didn't post it. Thankfully, I was able to remember what the message was about (and what thread it was on) and wrote alex about it. Otherwise, I may never have been let back on? I didn't report it myself at the time because it was so cryptic that I worried it might be bugged and end up messing with my account.

Anyway, my suggestion is that there should be more contacts listed so the developer doesn't have to be the only one bothered when this stuff happens. And with as much concern and effort that I put into my emails to him about the issue, I would have appreciated at least a simple reply. Instead, I heard nothing back (from no one), but was magically able to log back into my account a few days later as if nothing had happened.

I am concerned about this experience as the spam message very strange. And the fact that I got blamed for it and received no reply about what had happened, concerns me that the site is either being hacked into or somebody is messing around behind the scenes on here.

I would also suggest that you remove the ability for people to list their actual date of birth or any other personal information in their account. That way some poor soul doesn't get their identity taken in a situation like I experienced.

I also got the ban message and then all of a sudden I was able to view the board again. It said I was IP banned for spam. Must have been some glitch or my IP changed.

I think it was just a glitch. A LOT of people have had the same problem.

I got the messaged that my IP address had been banned when trying to log in. It didn't say why, I was like "what could I have done to deserve an IP ban w/o warning?" Figured it was a glitch. Obviously, it resolved itself.

It would either be a glitch or you ended up getting the banned IP. This has happened to me previously in the past.
