WP supporters??`

I've noticed quite a bit of users (for the most part older ones) with a green and blue "WP Supporter" tag above their avatars.

What exactly is this and how can one get it?

If it means monetary donation, is it not the best time to donate if a new version of the site is coming up soon, or a really really good time?

There used to be a feature whereby members could donate a one-off or ongoing monthly amount towards the upkeep of the site and they got the "supporter badge". I think the feature has been obsolete for several years. I don't know if it is even possible to donate any more. Nothing has been said about it for years.

I know when I was first around, they were still giving people the badges. I actually had one at one point until it got to the point I did not see the point in having that badge there anymore.

You can still donate but you would have to contact Alex in order to get it set up.
