WP so slow
I tried to replied earlier to this thread but was offered a zillionth chance to watch Autism TV instead.
There are times when the site seems reasonably fast and other times it is so slow it is unusable and I give up and come back later - which can be annoying if I had been trying to ban a troll and remove his posts at the time, so it is just a case of fuc* it for the time being. My patience with the site and all its problems is wearing extremely thin. There is a new version of the site in the pipeline but Alex hasn't said anything for several weeks about it; so nobody has any idea when the ETA is.

I've left WP indefinitely.
WP takes some patience for me as well. Pages load very slowly and I get more error messages than ever. It often happens that I need to re-load a page several (!) times before I can finally see it.

It's not supposed to be happening, but my own experience with the 'WrongPlanet is handling a lot of traffic control, please watch this video to pass the time' messages, is that they also appear when there is no such problem. Refreshing the thread/forum URL in the address bar usually gets me to the thread I want to read on those occasions.
But yes, I for one can't wait till the new WP forum software goes on air. There is something of a lag, and the false notifications can be a big nuisance.

clarity of thought before rashness of action
It seems more frequent than ever as of late that I go to the trouble of composing a poly-syllabic WOT only to hit the submit button and watch WP spin in circles for what seems a sufficient portion of eternity to completely obliterate everything I have so meticulously pecked out. Almost enough for me to contemplate the purchase of an implement of destruction sufficient to obliterate my internet connected devices.
Today I have had more problems accessing pages and indexes than ever before. Never known WP to be this slow. And the pages not loading in full, yes, that too. It's reached the point where it is all too much stress which is a pity, especially for people new to the site though I am not one of them, first impressions must currently really suck ![]()
It was always slow when I had a windows based computer, but now that I have an i Mac it's as fast as any other Internet site. Yes, there are bugs, and sometimes I have to refresh but that's just quick key strokes to me.
There was a time in the 'distant' past that it took three minutes to load a Jpeg image, in the olden days of 14.4K modems. I can wait a second here and there if necessary and at least with my Internet speed and i-Mac it's never even an inconvenient level of slow to me, now.
Little different story on Apple mobile, but mobile doesn't have the same stability as desk top, and there is nothing on the open market as stable as an i Mac; it's as fast as it was the day i opened it out of the box over a year ago.
My windows computer that i bought about 6 months earlier is comparably horrible with the same speed of Internet connectivity no matter where one goes, and yes that is with state of the art virus protection, as well. Try an i-Mac if you can afford it, you'll NEVER EVER go back, in my educated opinion now.
Windows operating machines are bloated pieces of well, you know what. :) And nah, no market bought virus protection even required. It's almost like Magick in a screened box.
But anyway, I have no real complaints about the technical part of how the site works; the bugs are not even as bad as gnats to me, but I do know some folks who can't tolerate gnats. I for one, can.
And no, I don't have much faith that the new software is going to be without bugs either, if it does ever get here. But anyway, again, I don't have any significant problem with the software as is.
I can type around 130 words a minute and read around 10 to 15 times faster than the average human being as associated with my hyperlexic form of Autism; it keeps up with me, and no I cannot always say that about Facebook, and the Google algorithm gets pissed off at me, as it doesn't think humans can type that fast, and seriously the algorithm has told 'me' to slow down before, 'or else'. No, I'm not kidding, it actually happened. And I've also had similar issues on Facebook.
OK, 'sue me, Facebook and Google', I can't help it, I've always been fast and do things in excess in everything I do, that's just the way I am.
Google doesn't bother me anymore now that I have almost 800K views on my Google Plus site; I'm a free source of advertisement, for Google, in all the You Tube Videos I link, so I get the 'algorithm's respect' now; similar thing with Facebook. Money still talks, even to computer algorithms.

I suggest copy and paste to a native application, just in case. I do it every time and it takes a second or two, but I don't do it because it's slow or for problems with the software. I do it in case a moderator who doesn't understand what the hell I'm talking about or how I'm talking about it deletes my post before asking me to clarify it, if at all, for proper understanding. Doesn't happen anymore, but yes it did in the past; no one over owns up to it though, of course, back then.
