private message question

I got a private message this morning but it read "This message was deleted by its author" in the message subject and nothing in the body but still had the name of the sender. I didn't think you could delete a message after you have sent it or is this maybe a mistake.

I might be wrong, but seem to remember a message can be deleted before but not after the recipient has read it.
On a few occasions I have had an e-mail telling me I have a new private message, but when I look, I found nothing there.
It didn't say who had sent me the message though.

yea, thanks, that's what I thought, I did find it a bit odd so I've sent the person a message to try and clear it up.

You can delete and edit messages after you send them.

Really, I didn't think you could do that after you sent it. That seems a weird function cos you can edit your message before you send it but at least it clears it up for me, thanks.
