Birthday on Account Settings Changed?

I noticed the birthday thing on the account settings was mm/dd/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy. Was it always that way, or did it change when the site updated? I could've sworn it used to be the latter rather than the former. Either that, or I'm starting to go crazy. I first noticed it when I went into my account and it looked as if I put my birthday as December 9th instead of September 12th.
