I've noticed that if one clicks on the majority of WP threads, then returns immediately to the Board Index for the relevant forum, the number of 'views' advances by two. There are some which only advance by one, but these seem to be a minority.

This must be at least part of the explanation for the very high 'views to replies' ratio which some members have commented on.

Could it be because in the time it takes you to read a thread, someone else has also read ("viewed") it----and / or, by the time you've read a thread, and refreshed the forum index page, someone else has already viewed it, as well? It' pretty busy, here.....

Maybe so, but it will happen if you return straight to the forum index page after glancing at a thread for just a couple of seconds, even if it's an obscure ancient thread which no-one has posted on for two or three years.

Lol, I sometimes think I need to get a life.... :D
