Has anyone else noticed that there are significantly more 'glitches' in tne PM system, by comparison to the public posting system?

Sql error, cloudfare and timing out/freezing.

Since the update I am copying each time i type, both posts and Pm, and that is fine as a short term knee jerk reaction to a problem, but I am becoming frustrated by this process, especially when i forget to copy before I click submit, this combined with the non zoom feature, and this new captcha system has made the wp PM experience very irritating.

A non WP smilie face has been enough to trigger a fit of glitches! Is this part of a security Feature? What was the rationale for introducing the captcha, before addressing the existing Pm glitches? I am trying to understand, so that these extra communication challenges will at least have more context than the word glitch.

Yes. The last 8 days I've been getting captcha for almost every PM I've sent (and I've had to go 2-3 rounds with it too, and each time I was returned to the PM, the content was gone, so I had to paste it back in. Thank heavens I always write my longer PMs in Word).

And when I hit submit, it goes to preview, so I have to confirm submit twice (captcha not included).

I usually copy the ones I write directly in, but the few times I forget...

Well, at least I'm no longer told "sorry, no such user exists" as I was on Old WP.

But I do get some 'the forum you are looking for does not exist' messages when trying to enter a forum via the "Jump to" option at the bottom.
