Inappropriate response to ban requests

I saw that thread, and I was concerned at why it was closed. SpaceCase posted that because she was distressed, depressed, suicidal, and made a reasonable request to be banned. I don't think that it was appropriate to lock that thread. She didn't post spam. I don't see why a ban request, and an explanation of her issues is reason to lock a thread.

AFAIK this is alex's decision, based upon legal advice. Suicide threats are against forum rules. We are not qualified to handle them. I was waiting to see if he would post here, but I think that y'all deserve some understanding of the issue.

You weren't the only one.

Something more than the usual "I pwned a sockpuppet" response or the "T.O.S." reference would be nice from time to time.

I understand that but I have no idea where it came from. I feel neutral about that myself. I've told you about my feelings in days past and I've owed some people private apologies. That's why I'm still here.

I've had some private thoughts about myself and I've come off to other people as a person. In fact, I could spend all night talking about these things but I would rather not share.

This website will come to what it comes to, I can tell you that.

So, why was this considered sense?

I don't think suicide threads should be against the rules. Suicide and the feelings behind them are a serious topic and should be addressed as such, but locking threads I consider to be trying to avoid the problem, even if it is a sock puppet, because whether or not that version isn't real, the person behind it still wants to kill him or her self. To be honest, locking your suicide thread is one of the WORST things you can do. I thought that suicide threads would be a given in The Haven, not discouraged, and a lot of the threads in there suggest that (take ahayes in the Scale of 1-10 thread).

(personally, if suicide threads continue to be locked, we may be in a situation Alex may be all too familiar with...)

I dunno, but I was implying the Locked thread in The Haven from that guy in Dunedin, NZ.

I'm talking about a former veteran member of Wrongplanet, and her name starts with a C.

I tried e-mailing her, but then I decided not to.

I don't think she'll respond anyway.

FWIU (I love making these up) - This was a matter of two issues. One was that the duplicate account issue was not yet banned - and had to be taken care of. The other is the suicide issue. Like it or not, WP is a business, and needs to be sensitive to legal realities. Bad advice given here might end up being an actionable event.
