get rid of the secuirity check for pms

I just spent 3 hours writing a detailed reply to a pm just to have it vanish after the secuirty check. I'm so beyond pissed and this isnt' the first time. why should I spend hours on here just to have it all go away in second. and it was an importnat reply. ugh

The security feature is not going away, so here are a few tips:

1) Think carefully about what you are trying to say.

2) Use a text editor to compose your message (i.e., NotePad or something similar).

3) Use proper capitalization, grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Some security features are triggered by lack of these things, since such a message resembles commercial "spam" emailings.

4) Keep it short, simple, and concise. Long messages tend to trigger the security feature.

5) Leave out profanity, slang, and other scatological words and phrases, which will also trigger the security feature.

6) Once you are done, save it and let it "rest" for a while before sending, then go back and re-read it with a clearer mind.

7) Only when you are absolutely certain that the message is exactly the way that you want, copy and paste it into the PM window and click on the "Submit" button.

This is what works for me, and I've rarely ever triggered the security feature when sending a PM.

I am very careful with what I write. I never use profanity. I never employ scatological phraseology. I'm not absolutely perfect grammatically--but I'm at least passable.

Most of the time, what triggers the Captcha is a message of 15 lines or more.

Here's my own very recent experience:

About four hours ago, typed out a PM, 8 or 9 lines long, good English, no profanities.

Hit the 'Preview' button and was 'asked' to complete a CAPTCHA.

Did so, then when I hit the 'Submit' button was asked to complete a CAPTCHA again.

Did so, whereupon the message, instead of being sent to its recipient, apparently was deleted.

Typed out the message again, this time with the intention of saving it via the 'Draft' function.

Hit the 'Draft' button, and was asked to complete another CAPTCHA.

When I did so, the message was again apparently deleted, and could not be restored.


Is this awful feature really necessary? And if so, why does it come into play even when one tries to preview or draft?

It's easily the worst part of the WP experience that I've encountered.

Having had two or three further PMs deleted by the CAPTCHA, I tried a different approach:

Instead of clicking on the 'Submit' box after typing in the number, and getting the inevitable wipeout result, I just hit 'Enter' on the keyboard. Hey Presto - the post was successfully submitted!

I find that you basically have to screen-shot your messages, save what you've written into a text/document-file or something just in case, then upload the text-images onto an image-medium like http://www.imgur.com if you're going to give/send any kind of detailed responses/messages. Another alternative is to look for another forums-site where they have a functional message-feature & ask the person with whom you wish to correspond if they would be willing to communicate there or you could just try exchanging e-mail & communicating that way if they're willing.
