bolded usernames

what does it mean when somebody's username is bolded? i recently came back to wrongplanet and it was one of the first things i noticed.

first i thought it indicated a moderator, but that was quickly debunked as i noticed my username was bolded (along with a lot of other users who are not moderators.)
then i thought it indicated that the user had the "veteran" status, but i see several users that have the veteran status and their names are not bolded, so it couldn't be that ether.

In the past, someone said that it was probably related to the account registration date. So if you registered after a certain month/year, then your username is bolded.

i have a theory that has to do with "good behavior".
like a user that abides by the site rules has their name bolded to show they are trusted. some kind of reputation system maybe.

Nope....there are some people with excellent reputations, and who have been on the Site a while and have lots of post--who are un-bolded.

I think TenPenseCones or someone was saying that people that registered after a certain date in Feb 2012 are bolded. It seems right. It seems that those members that registered between whatever date in Feb 2012 and some date in 2014 (or 2015?) seem to be bolded. I think it's actually just one of many glitches this site has, although this one is harmless.

Also when you see the profile page of individual users, some usernames are blue and others are red. Mods' usernames seem to be green. I don't know whether the color means anything.

okay. now i am seeing a pattern.

moderators seems to have bolded names regardless of registration date. that is what confused me in the first place.
