I firstly must apologize if this is in the wrong area, but seemed important.. I just received a PM from a new member, reading, "Hello dear friend i am Mrs Rachel Simpson im new in this site please there is something important and urgent i will like to discuss with you please contact me via my email r**********5@gmail.com thanks and God bless you".

This didn't seem right, so looked into it a little more and found some information pertaining the above to be that of a SCAM... Link to information showing as a scam So if you have received a PM with above information or similar, i would advise not responding to it with your private email address... Again, i am sorry if in wrong place or even if this was ok to post at all, Just seemed like the right thing to do.

Thank you so much for letting us know. You did the right thing in exposing that. Perhaps the mods can ban this new member. If you are able to report it to the mods through that pm that could be very helpful.

I received that exact same message from that same user too. But I didn't click on the link. I knew it was spam when I read the title "hello dear".

But thank you for warning us anyway. You did the right thing. I wish they would make this thread a sticky.

I clicked on the icon to report the PM to WP admins... then deleted the PM.

Unfortunately, some WP users will no doubt fall for it. Spammers only need a 1% (or smaller) success rate.

Though, really, the people that make these things arent even trying anymore. They're starting to become REALLY obvious at this point.

Hopefully the mods will just flatten this one quickly. Blasted things... I hate them even if they dont manage to do any damage.

It's another 419 scammer from Nigeria. We had another one a few weeks ago. This "Rachel Simpson" is identified as such here:

I don't hate them, though annoying I find them humorous and like to play with scammers minds. I send them emails from fake accounts, provide fake information and generally troll them. I once got one of those sick relatives from another country, send money now things and I replied back and said no no, you are the one with a sick relative over here LOL. Also kinda unrelated but I remember I got in chat with a bot one time and it was funny cause I was messing with it. When you accused it of being a bot, it would reply "whats a bot" over and over again and continued to have a conversation with me even after I trolled it hard.
