Moved from Random discussion.

Yes, we can ban you on request; accounts can't be deleted.

Got your arse whipped in PPR! :P

Seriously though, WP is fundamentally a support site for ASD individuals
and we as a community will apply ourselves wholehearted to Your problems,
should you choose to share them with us.

Throwing yourself into the PPR forum in your first week
doesn't really take advantage of the welcome and the community and the advise and experience
That SO many members have here!

No the responses people gave me in PPR made me realize that I'm discussing politics with high school students or younger.

Anyways... fyi, I got diagnosed with ASD, yeah, but do I actually have it? Absolutely not. Not here to discuss a diagnosis they got wrong because that in itself has been proven controversial for me to discuss and it would mean everyone here would stone me for expressing my reasons.

My friend, all I want to say to you is...
if at any point of your life, you find yourself absolutely alone, friendless, rejected, confused and dejected,
suicidal and utterly depleted,
we will know why
and we will offer you a hand

Okay, let me tell you something about me:

That diagnosis ruined my life, I recovered in the last 2 years of high school (my social life included) and I'm prospering now. Not sure if that tells you something about me, but...

I went through depressive episodes, having to constantly fight with my teachers to stop making me out as a "kid with an iep" (I could say other adjectives, but I think this is the softest comment about that) I had a paraprofessional who was a damn control freak and it was a constant, every day battle with her every day because she wouldn't leave me the hell alone and go find someone else to help. I had to live by her rules because I had no support at home to get rid of the parapro.

Now, I'm wondering if you actually wanna listen to my reasons.

That does sound quite obnoxious....I have seen like teacher aide kind of people or whatever act that way at kids when I was in school. Like there was one girl who had some sort of neurological disorder in one of my classes and any time she'd try and express herself or so much as giggle at something entertaining this lady would be hovering over her with a mean angry look on her face trying to make her just sit there and do nothing.

However if you are prospering now, and survived all that.....you're life isn't ruined.

I am probably one of the very few who the accuracy of AS diagnosis; there's no medical test that proves its existence in the individual, there's no clear genetic definition of it, and unlike severe autism, symptoms are mostly behavioral - I am of the camp that AS can be possibly a social construct thing.

It's not a very popular view here tho.

The absolute inconsistency in Aspergers is that it generalizes several outwardly behaviors of society in one grouping, and it is so broad, it can apply to literally anyone.

Because if you ask me how many things on a "proper" ASD diagnosis apply to me, it's just anxiety and depression, but that can apply to multiple other disorders.

It's ridiculous they even made it at all.

My friends from elementary didn't know me in middle school, that's how much the parapro sheltered me. I couldn't make new friends in middle school and high school because of the parapro. I couldn't go to prom because of them.

Yeah, they basically wasted 6-7 years of my life for nothing. I can never get those years back, I can never get the memories I could have made, because of them.

I tried getting rid of them multiple times in Junior year, but I was powerless in the IEP meetings because they basically solidified the notion that I "needed" the parapro.

So after that failed, I basically made it hell for them to work with me. (Not some p**** s**t either, I openly defied them, mocked them, generally made them look like a two faced b***h.)

So tell me again how that COULDN'T POSSIBLY ruin my life?

Exactly....

If you look at William's Syndrome, it has an obvious genetic definition (and distinct physical features), they know the exact affected gene and mutation.

Same for Rett's Syndrome, which was previously lumped with ASD before then later got removed from DSM because it turned to a real medical diagnosis, not psychiatrist diagnosis.

But ASD? Too broad...too unknown....nothing is certain, and diagnosis is too inconsistent.
