Over half of my attempts to post anything end up being a waste of time, as when i click on the button to post them, the next thing that happens is I get the 'captcha' thing, and regardless of how many times I do that (correctly every time), it won;t let my post get posted. I've wasted a LOT of time through this in the past day or so. I came back to this site because I could do with some help, but all this technical glitch is doing is winding me up!

I am logged in (that's another question actually - is there a way I can stay logged in?). My computer has an antivirus system (the bit to the right of the captcha thing says something about running an antivirus check - what's that all about?).

I will have no choice but to not come back on here unless this can be sorted out. After spending quite some time carefully writing what is meant as a helpful and constructive response to somebody's question, only to find it vanishes, is extremely frustrating. As I trust you will be able to imagine.

The CAPTCHA thing is REALLY annoying! I'm not sure if this will work for you, but what I do is write my post as usual, submit it and try the CAPTCHA, and if it erases my response, I hit the back button twice or until my response is there again, and then I hit submit again and do the CAPTCHA again. Most of the time, it posts correctly if I do that. Or you could just copy everything you write and paste it if it disappears so you don't have to write it all over again.

I think the antivirus warning is just a general thing and not any real indication that your computer is infected. I know mine isn't, and I get stuck doing CAPTCHAs all the time on this site, although lately it hasn't been as bad as it was a few weeks ago.

There is a way to stay logged in. I haven't looked for it in a while, but there should be a small box you can check as you log in that says "remember me" or something along those lines.

Hope this helps! :)

it seems to have a degree for randomness whether you stay logged in... up until yesterday i was logged in constantly on my (crappy) laptop, when i opened up chrome yesterday and went directly to a mod area i was greeted with an error message that never occurred until now.

what you read on the captcha screen doesn't mean much and to me seems a bit condescending. it has no way to actually tell if your computer has malware.

there are a few browser plugins/addons that preserve the text you enter in specific fields to save you the pain of retyping your post if it gets deleted, i use lazarus for chrome.
